Subaru unveils their new livery for the #75 Subaru WRX STI rally car at NAIAS in Detroit. What other changes are coming?
The #75 Subaru WRX STI driven by David Higgins gets a new livery and it’s been revealed at the North American International Auto Show this week in Detroit. It features a striking new motif for the 2017 season and will be ready to go soon. The first race comes up quickly and is only a few weeks away. What other changes are coming?
Both David Higgins and Travis Pastrana will be racing in the newly-formed American Rally Association (ARA) National Championship series this season. It’s the inaugural season for ARA which will be affiliated with United States Auto Club (USAC). ARA hopes to attract more manufactures like Subaru who will keep rally racing alive in the US. ARA will offer a six-event schedule in 2017.
Travis Pastrana will get a full season in the #199 WRX STI rally car, and will try to dethrone his teammate Higgins who he will be battling all season for the title. Pastrana, who returned to Subaru in 2014, has only raced partial seasons with Subaru Rally Team USA. In 2017, he and Robbie Durant will contest the full season with David Higgins and Craig Drew. Pastrana is ready to get it going in all six races.
“I'm really excited about 2017. The last two years I've had to limit my rally schedule due to my other commitments but I'm running the full championship in 2017 and trying my hardest to dethrone Higgins,” said Pastrana.
The #75 Subaru WRX STI’s new livery was unveiled at NAIAS this week and will be ready to go February 3-4 Perce-Neige in Quebec, Canada for the first rally race. Stay tuned.
