How does the next-generation 2022 Subaru WRX compare in price with the nine cheapest new sports cars you can buy today? The all-new sport-tuned WRX sedan isn’t the most affordable, and it’s not the most expensive new performance car.

U.S. News ranked the cheapest new sports cars for performance buyers and found two new 2022 Subaru models on the list. The 2022 Subaru WRX and 2022 Subaru BRZ rank among the nine most affordable models.

U.S. News says there are plenty of great sports cars today that offer speed, handling and fun for around the same price as most family sedans. The nine new sports cars below won’t break the bank. Pricing does not include dealer fees.

The next-generation 2022 Subaru WRX performance sedan is now near the top of the list of models around $30,000, with the 2022 Hyundai Veloster N, 2022 Dodge Challenger, and 2022 Volkswagen GTI being more expensive.

What is all 2022 WRX trim level pricing?

The 2022 WRX 6-speed manual trim level starts at $30,600. The WRX with Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT) is $32,450, WRX Premium 6-speed manual is $33,100, WRX Premium SPT is $35,150, WRX Limited 6-speed manual is $37,490, WRX Limited SPT is $39,740, and WRX GT is $43,390. Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($995).

What sets the next-generation WRX apart from the competition?

The 2022 Subaru WRX comes standard with the automaker’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. You won’t have to park the sports car this winter when the roads get snowy or icy.

The WRX’s Boxer flat-four Boxer engine sits low in the chassis giving the sports car a lower center of gravity than the competition. The WRX has better balance and driving dynamics than more expensive performance cars.

The 2002 WRX earned a Top Safety Pick+ crash score from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The new WRX secured an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award for the first time.
