The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek is almost home from a 21,700-mile there-and-back-again trek from London to Ulaanbaatar. Why is Subaru doing it?
Subaru builds some of the worlds best all-wheel-drive multi-use vehicles in the world and they set out to prove it back in July with the 2014 XV Crosstrek. Subaru’s newest crossover, the XV took off on a on-and off-road adventure and is successfully making the 21,700-mile there-and-back-again trek from London to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The trek is being undertaken by the all-female Canadian team, Offtrax
The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek compact crossover has been subjected to a very tough challenge, and Corinne Copreni and Jess Watt, two Canadian adventurers from the Offtrax team, entered the Mongolia Charity Rally, an epic pan-continental road trip from the UK to Mongolia and back again. Subaru Europe provided Offtrax with a 2014 Subaru XV 1.6i for the journey, which started in London on July 19, and the team is almost back home.
Here’s their updates from the trip: August 1-7
The Subaru Offtrax team made it to Austria on their way to their final destination, Mongolia. The Subaru XV did well at the high altitudes. After driving through Austria, Subaru Offtrax popped over to the Subaru dealer/showroom in Italy. The team navigated mountain paths in Bosnia and Romania and happened to see a “haunted” mansion along the way. In Bulgaria, the Subaru Offtrax team stumbled upon a unique object at the top of a hill that looked like a giant space ship.

On the way to the final destination, Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, the Subaru Offtrax team enjoyed stunning views and unique experiences through Montenegro, Bulgaria and Turkey. They were on the shore near the coast of Marmaro in Turkey. The Subaru Offtrax team's Subaru XV underwent periodic maintenance to keep going on with the charity rally. They then drove the Subaru XV through trackless fields and came across herds of cattle crossing or walking along the road in Georgia.
