Consumers pick their most trusted car brands to develop fully-autonomous vehicles. See where Subaru ranks in the top-10 automakers.
Do you trust Subaru to develop safe and reliable fully-autonomous vehicles (AVs)? AutoPacific's recent study asked consumers who they would trust the most and the least when designing safe and reliable fully-autonomous cars. The technology is coming soon, and Subaru is already working on the new system for Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and other new vehicles.
What age group is the most eager to embrace fully-autonomous vehicle technology? AutoPacific found 22 percent of younger shoppers ages 30 to 39 want AVs as soon as possible, followed by 14 percent of shoppers ages 18 to 29. The eagerness drops sharply as the age brackets climb.
Top-10 Car Brands
Consumers trust the following ten brands the most to develop safe, reliable fully-autonomous vehicles: Tesla (32%), Toyota (19%), BMW (18%), Chevrolet (16%), Ford (14%), Apple (13%), Honda (13%), Audi (9%), Subaru (8%), and Cadillac (7%).
Zero fatal traffic accidents by 2030
Subaru has stated their goal is to have zero fatal traffic accidents in their vehicles by 2030. The big jump in technology started in 2016 when Subaru and IBM partnered on a data analytics system for testing images from the advanced safety system, including output from Subaru's EyeSight driver-assist system.
The safety system is standard equipment on all 2022 Subaru Forester, 2022 Outback, 2022 Ascent, 2022 Legacy vehicles, and 2022 Crosstrek models with the CVT automatic transmission. You can read the complete report here.
The world's first self-driving maneuver
In 2020, Subaru announced they had accomplished the world's first self-driving maneuver using a next-generation Subaru Forester and two other vehicles. The Japanese automaker and SoftBank Corp. teamed up using an autonomous driving control utilizing the 5th generation mobile communication system 5G and cellular V2X.
Subaru conducted two separate tests on the proving ground track. The first case led verification to allow the Forester autonomous vehicle to smoothly merge from a ramp to the main road.
By utilizing the 5G network and MEC server, the merging SUV smoothly merged between two vehicles traveling on the main road based on the control information. Subaru says the SUV "succeeded in doing it." You can read the complete report here.
