Check out the EPA's new 2022 sports car on its fuel economy website. Do they have inside information on a new Subaru four-door sports car?
Is Subaru bringing out a new 2023 BRZ four-door performance sports car? If you check the EPA's fuel economy website, a banner scrolling across the top reveals a four-door Subaru sports car. Does the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have inside information on a new model about to be released? It's not likely.
The vehicle shown is likely someone's rendering of a composite of two cars, a sports sedan, and the BRZ two-door sports coupe. A report from Carscoops says the body is the Lexus IS-F four-door sports sedan with a rear wing added. The front end is a first-generation BRZ with tweaks to the front grille.

Next to the image, the EPA website says, "2022 fuel economy estimates now available! Includes plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, fuel economy leaders for each vehicle, and more vehicles added weekly."
The "browse new cars" page comes up with a sporty cars category when you click the link. Of course, there is no new Subaru BRZ four-door sports car on the page.

A quick check of 2022 Subaru vehicles' fuel economy reveals the all-new 2022 BRZ sports coupe 6-speed manual and 2.4L automatic models. But it's no surprise there is no new four-door sports sedan.
Subaru already has the 2022 Subaru WRX sports sedan for performance car enthusiasts, and the Japanese automaker has no intention of adding another sedan sports model to the lineup. It's all been cooked up by the EPA.
The EPA has access to someone who put together a rendering of a BRZ front end and possibly the rear of the Lexus IS-F four-door sports sedan. The EPA doesn't have information on a hot new BRZ four-door sports sedan; they can't promote any band's cars, so they came up with the unique rendering in the image above.
