The first production 2013 SRT Viper was sold at Barrett-Jackson and was auctioned for $300,000.
On Saturday, Barrett-Jackson held their auction in Orange County, California and had some very impressive vehicles on the auction block. One of those cars was the first production 2013 SRT Viper VIN number-1 which sold for $300,000. It has become customary for carmakers to offer up the first production model of collectible cars at the famous auction, so one lucky buyer will tuck this one away for safe keeping.
The 2013 SRT Viper is one vehicle that will be worth collecting. Even though it’s a hefty price to pay, having the first production model of this supercar would make anyone proud to own. Undoubtedly the car will be put into a private collection and will increase in value. And we imagine piloting the 8.4-liter, V10-powered supercar with 640 horsepower will be worth every single penny. It would be hard to own this highly collectible beauty and not be able to drive it.
As the 640 horsepower V10 with beautiful carbon fiber bodywork drove up under the shining lights at Barrett-Jackson, bidding for the red SRT Viper rose quickly past the six figure sticker price to a quarter of a million dollars. To entice bidders to keep bidding, an SRT Track Experience and a trip to this year's Petit Le Mans were thrown in as a bonus to go with the car. THe bidding didn’t go much higher and the gavel dropped at $300,000.
Proceeds will benefit children with cancer
As we reported here in April, adding to the auction's appeal, proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Austin Hatcher Foundation, an organization that helps children and families dealing with issues resulting from pediatric cancer. The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer has a very important mission to fulfill. Their goal is to erase the effects of pediatric cancer and to maximize a child’s quality of life from the time of diagnosis through the treatment process.
The Foundation provides services to children with cancer as well as their families through its cancer care center, Hatch’s House of Hope. The Foundation provides all services at no cost to the families. Services are funded solely by the generous donations of its supporters. So the sale of the first production 2013 SRT Viper will help many children and their families have a better quality of life during a difficult time.
Dr. Jim Osborn Co-founder of the Austin Hatcher Foundation said, "We are thrilled that SRT has chosen us to be a part of this extraordinary opportunity. We are tremendously excited to see the 2013 SRT Viper. It is an amazing vehicle. We are also very excited that the first production Viper be auctioned at Barrett- Jackson Orange County to benefit the many families faced with pediatric cancer. We just can't thank Mr. Gilles and his team enough."
