The new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek brings in the youngest customers to the brand. Who’s in the crosshairs?
Subaru is ready to launch the 2018 Crosstrek in dealers in the U.S. and they will target a specific demographic with the new crossover. Subaru will target millennials and females with the new 2018 Crosstrek. Subaru launched the new-generation Impreza compact and you’d think it would attract a younger buyer, but at the Crosstrek media launch in South Dakota, Todd Hill, Subaru's car line manager, says the all-new second-generation Crosstrek will appeal to a younger buyer.
Crosstrek shares the same new global platform with Impreza, but the new 2018 crossover will attract more buyers in the 25 to 29 age group than any of their other all-wheel-drive vehicles. Subaru Corporation knows their customers better than any other automaker, and it’s why they will target a specific demographic with the new Crosstrek. It will appeal to millennials and also females around the globe.
At the media launch in Australia, Subaru Managing Director, Colin Christie, said, “Our opportunity with new XV (Crosstrek in the U.S.) is to attract new audiences, in particular, younger people (under 35), especially females.
Subaru Crosstrek is a trend-setter
Subaru wants to appeal to a younger audience with the new Crosstrek at they’ll do it a number of ways. The Japanese automaker gave the Crosstrek new styling and its infotainment package includes the availability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity even on the base trim level. Christie, says, “This will resonate with our younger buyers in particular.”
At the Crosstrek media launch, Subaru said, 64 percent of Crosstrek buyers are conquest buyers from other brands and have never purchased a Subaru vehicle before. As Subaru knows with their BRZ sports coupe, if they buy a sports coupe, they might come back and buy a Crosstrek, Outback or Forester when their family grows and they need a bigger vehicle. The same will work with new customers who by a Crosstrek. They hope to get them back when they need a larger vehicle like the new Subaru Ascent 3-Row SUV that’s coming in 2018.
Subaru also designed the new-generation Crosstrek for younger buyers with active lifestyles. Crosstrek has a 8.7-inch ground clearance, comes standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive, and now comes standard with the off-road feature called X-Mode. Its “go-anywhere’ attitude will attract young millennials who will use the new crossover to get a way from civilization for activities like mountain biking, kayaking, camping and trail hiking in the back country.
The all-new second-generation 2018 Subaru Crosstrek will be in showrooms soon and it will appeal to a younger buyer than ever before. Subaru will target millennials and also females with the new Crosstrek with its youthful styling, high-tech features, and “go-anywhere” attitude.
