What are the most popular new Subaru models? You would think it would be the all-new next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, but it's not. See which Subaru all-wheel-drive vehicle moves into first place.

In May, the hot Subaru Crosstrek was the most researched new Subaru model and had the most interest among new car shoppers. But the subcompact has dropped out of the top 20 according to new research data from Edmunds. Another new Subaru all-wheel-drive vehicle has moved up—the 2023 Subaru Outback.

In May, the subcompact SUV appeared on the top 50 most popular new model list at number twenty-three. In June, the Crosstrek dropped to 30th overall. The Outback midsize SUV is now the hot model and moved to number thirteen from the twenty-sixth most researched new car in May.

The 2023 Outback received new upgrades, and the Wilderness continues to be a popular trim level for Subaru of America. In June sales, the Outback is the number one selling all-wheel-drive vehicle for SOA passing the Crosstrek.

Edmunds says, "The redesigned Outback offers plenty of SUV capability and a long list of desirable features." Edmunds put together the list for shoppers "so you can tap into the collective wisdom of our shoppers to see what's trending and discover what vehicles grab your attention."

What is the 2023 Outback pricing?

The 2023 Outback comes in nine trim levels for U.S. customers; the base trim is priced from $29,620, Premium ($31,920), new Onyx Edition with a 2.5-liter engine ($34,720), Limited ($36,520), Touring ($41,070), Outback Wilderness ($39,670), Onyx Edition XT ($39,820), Limited XT ($40,920), and Touring XT ($43,520). Pricing includes $1,225 destination and delivery fees.

Forester moves up to number two for Subaru models.

The 2023 Subaru Forester is next at number seventeen, up from twenty-four on the updated Edmunds list of the top twenty most researched new cars. The Forester remained popular with new compact SUV shoppers in June and passed the Crosstrek.

The biggest surprise in June is the all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra all-electric compact SUV is ahead of the Crosstrek for the first time. The Solterra EV is gaining popularity among customers looking at an all-electric model this summer.

Crosstrek is Subaru's number four most researched new model.

The hot Crosstrek remains a popular new Subaru model but drops to 30th in the latest Edmunds ranking. It could be because customers have researched the new model and are ready to buy the next-generation 2024 Crosstrek.

New 2024 Base and Premium Crosstrek trim levels arrive now at U.S. retailers, and the Sport and Limited will arrive this summer. The all-new outdoor-themed 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness trim level comes this fall.

Edmunds says, "Compact and capable, the Subaru Crosstrek is an economical way to explore."

The third-generation Crosstrek gets many upgrades, and the all-new outdoor-themed Wilderness trim level will likely be a big hit with active customers looking to get further off the grid. Check out the 2024 Crosstrek pricing, improvements, and model guide here if you still need to research the third-generation model.

What is the 2024 Crosstrek pricing?

For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trim levels and has a starting price of $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission).

The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225). The all-new Crosstrek Wilderness costs $33,290, including dealer destination and delivery fees ($1,295).
