How fast was he driving a new Subaru Forester as he blew past the state police?
At 19 years old, many of us have done things we came to regret later. This is a quick lesson on how not to drive your small SUV. The Massachusetts state police said their cruisers shook as Andrew Tham blew past them in a new 2016 Subaru Forester. They shook because the 19 year-old was going 116 mph in a 70 mph zone. Needless to say, it got their attention. The police, doing their job, chased the Subaru and pulled the young driver over.
Luckily, no one was injured as the 19 year-old was out cruising fast in a new Subaru Forester. We don’t know if Andrew Tham, of Middleton, Massachusetts, owned the small SUV, if it belonged to his parents or someone else. But whatever it was, Tham was in a hurry to get somewhere early on Sunday morning. The young driver was chased down by police and charged with reckless operation of a vehicle. We are guessing he also got a speeding ticked for going 46 mph over the speed limit. He was driving on Interstate 93 in Ashland when he blew by the state police.
According to WCVB 5, New Hampshire State Police said two of their troopers were parked in a crossover on Interstate 93 in Ashland around 7 a.m. A 2016 Subaru Forrester with Massachusetts plates flew by them heading north at an estimated speed of over 100 mph. One of the troopers pursued the vehicle and clocked Tham on radar going 116 mph. The trooper finally caught up with the Subaru on Interstate 93 just south of Plymouth. He was arrested and taken to the New Hampton Police Department.
The 19 year-old was released and will appear before the court in Plymouth at 8 a.m. on March 24. No other details were released on whether the 2016 Subaru Forester was the hot 250hp 2.0-liter turbocharged XT model or if it was the standard 2.5i variant. Tham’s insurance on whatever vehicle he drives is likely to skyrocket faster than he was speeding. It’s a good lesson on how not to drive a small SUV.
