Subaru is all about the outdoors and they have a brilliant marketing plan. See how they get a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts interested in their new 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness and Crosstrek Sport adventure SUVs. Check it out here.
How does Subaru get a younger generation interested in the outdoor-themed 2022 Outback Wilderness and Crosstrek Sport? You take them on a road tour. Subaru Report went to an event this weekend put on by Subaru of America and their outdoor partner REI Denver. The event runs from Friday 10/15/2021 - Sunday 10/17/21.
This weekend Subaru brought two vehicles from their all-wheel-drive lineup and drove them to Denver, Colorado. The 2022 Outback Wilderness and the Crosstrek Sport adventure vehicles were on display at the REI Denver store to capture the attention of a younger audience with active lifestyles.
Subaru and REI have partnered to bring the automaker in a weekend-long event featuring a first-hand look at the all-new Wilderness Outback trim. We met Alex, one of the hosts handing out pins, patches, bags, and Wilderness notebooks to Subaru owners and REI members. There was also a free giveaway for a Thule top carrier.
Alex told me the team is driving the new Subaru Outback Wilderness and Crosstrek Sport to Bloomington, Minnesota next and will continue the Subaru/REI road trip for three months before heading back home.
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport is a new trim level with a 2.5-liter engine and additional off-road upgrades for outdoor enthusiasts. The Subcompact SUV is the hottest model for Subaru of America and the fastest-selling new car across America this fall.
But the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness was the big hit with a young demographic and older group. The Subaru Outback has always been synonymous with the outdoors and was the original adventure vehicle. The Outback has been around since 1995, when the Japanese automaker launched the first model.
Subaru of America introduced the new 2022 Outback Wilderness this year, and it has been a massive success for the Camden, N.J. automaker. Subaru retailers are selling them as fast as they get them.
What sets the Wilderness trim apart from the standard model are 9.5 inches of ground clearance, an off-road-tuned suspension, Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires, an aluminum engine skid plate, and a steel rear differential skid plate. The upgrades allow the Wilderness model to trek further and tow more.
Alex said they pull a small 2,800 lb. trailer behind the Outback Wilderness and tow all their equipment for the events across the country. The Wilderness trim now has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs.
How does Subaru connect with outdoor enthusiasts? They bring their two best off-road models, the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness and 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport, to REI for those with active lifestyles. You can check out the Subaru Road Trip at REI schedule here. They may be coming to a city near you.
