The Subaru WRX STI will remain the exclusive OEM vehicle at the DirtFish Rally School. Why does the school include the BRZ?
Subaru renewed its commitment to DirtFish Rally School as their exclusive OEM vehicle partner, and that means the iconic rally-bred 2018 Subaru WRX STI performance sedan remains the top vehicle of choice. Why does the school include the rear-drive BRZ that's so hard to handle on loose surfaces and wet conditions?
The school based in Snoqualmie, WA, isn’t just for professional rally drivers like David Higgins. They offer multiple instruction courses to new drivers, teen drivers, as well as professional drivers who want to improve their driving safety and skills. It makes perfect sense why the rally-bred WRX STI is the ideal vehicle for the school, but they also want the rear-drive BRZ there for a specific reason.
DirtFish includes the BRZ
Students can choose Subaru’s WRX STI performance sedan or BRZ coupe as their course vehicle, but you would think most would choose the high-performance 305hp WRX STI over the milder 205hp BRZ coupe right? DirtFish wants students to have the option to drive two cars that are very different. Anyone who's tried to drive a rear-drive sports car in ice and snow knows it's a challenge. That's why they sit in the garage all winter. The WRX STI comes with Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, while the BRZ allows students to learn how to drive a rear-drive sports car in less-than-ideal conditions.
It’s all about learning how to control two very different cars in varying road conditions. DirtFish utilizes courses on multiple loose surfaces and conditions; dirt, mud, gravel, tarmac, pavement, and other sealed surfaces. It’s not only race conditions, but also learning how to control any car in all-weather conditions you could encounter everyday.
DirtFish offers a variety of driver instruction
DirtFish offers a variety of driver instruction, training and coaching programs and experiences. The school offers instruction for professional drivers in road and circuit racing, SCCA rallycross, stage rally, EVOC and tactical, and stunt driving. They also include instruction in winter snow and ice driving, high performance driving, and defensive driving for drivers of all skill levels.
The DirtFish Rally School isn’t just for professional drivers, but for anyone wanting to improve their driving skills in less-than-ideal conditions. Subaru remains the OEM vehicle of choice for students at the school. It’s a great place to learn various skills for racing, and everyday driving skills using the all-wheel-drive 2018 Subaru WRX STI and the rear-drive Subaru BRZ.
