The newest AMG has just been revealed, the all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe is here.
It doesn’t get any better than this as AMG has produced a dream car for performance enthusiasts around the globe. The newest creation from AMG has been revealed. It’s the all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe and it’s a stunning example of what can come out of Affalterback. Mercedes-AMG is the performance division of Mercedes-Benz and they’ve come up with another great sports car.
What makes this car special is what’s under the hood. The 2015 S63 AMG Coupe is powered by a handcrafted 5.5-liter biturbo V-8 producing 577-hp and a massive 664 lb-ft of torque. That’s a 41 hp increase compared to the previous CL 63 AMG model. Mercedes-AMG will offer the high-performance coupe with their 4MATIC all-wheel drive that will keep all four corners firmly planted at high speeds. How fast is the new S63 Coupe? It will sprint from 0-60 mph in as little as 3.9 seconds. That should excite any true performance fan. It will have an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
Mercedes continues their new model initiative as they plan on bringing out new models at a blistering pace. The 2015 S63 AMG Coupe also shows that Mercedes is sticking to their word that they will also “rigorously pursue our all-wheel-drive initiative.” The new performance coupe comes with the optional performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive. AMG will offer the performance feature on all their performance cars moving forward.
The S63 AMG Coupe is 143 lbs lighter thanks to AMG and their “Lightweight Performance strategy.” S63 AMG Coupe gets a new lightweight construction and the weight savings was achieved in part thanks to the use of a lightweight lithium-ion battery. AMG also forged light-alloy wheels and a weight-optimized AMG high-performance composite braking system. AMG designed the entire outer skin and the front end of the body using aluminium parts. The reduced weight not only improves driving dynamics, but cuts fuel consumption. The S63 AMG Coupe has an ultra-low power-to-weight ratio of 7.81 lbs/hp.
The 577-hp AMG handcrafted 5.5-liter biturbo V-8 comes mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission for quick shifts. Performance drivers can configure their own personal set-up, depending on their driving style. There are three modes to choose from: "C" (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport) and "M" (Manual). The ECO start/stop function is fitted as standard.
AMG has dreamed up another great sports car for performance enthusiasts to drool over. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe will make its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show next month. Sales of the 4MATIC variant commence in April 2014, with the rear-wheel-drive variant following in July. The market launch of both models starts in September. Pricing will be announced by Mercedes closer to its market launch.
