New 2020 Subaru Outback Is Here But Something Is Missing

I think they missed the mark on the exterior. I’ve owned a 05XT, 07XT, and 09 3.0R OUTBACK. The 2020 XT needs a Hood Scoop and the Panoramic Sun roof. I understand my 16 Crosstrek and the Legacy not having it. For the price Outback needs to have this.

We have owned Outback’s since 2012. (Ice silver metallic? Was our first. After that initial colour. I have gone with wilderness green. Got our 2 15 Outback’s and our 18 Outback’s.

New colors will arrive in subsequent generations for sure.

I have the 2017 crimson red. I agree Outback should have cooler colors. I do like the black interior. My thing is Subaru should offer an adventure package for the Outback. All terrain tires, black wheels, lift kit, LED off road lighting. I love taking my Outback through the backroads of the National Parks and Forests.

I loved Subaru. I previously had a 2002 Legacy. Currently i have Legacy 2013 and 2007 Outback. I am looking again for another outback but I choose another exterior color that I like the interior is Ivory. I love the gray and black interior or all gray interior. I wish I have an option to pick and interior color. The 2020 outback is so nice but I dont like to pay premium gas its too costly. I think turbo is for young generation. Subaru shouldnt make everything Turbo. Not everybody likes that. Itshould be optional.

My first Subaru was a 2000 legacy. Finally I moved into a 2018 outback with the winter package and I am loving it. My outback is wilderness green. Its nice, however, if the jade green offered to the forester was made available, I would have opted for that. Also, The upholstery weave seems a bit loose. The legacy material was denser. I cannot say if this is going to be a problem down the road ... I just wanted to mention it. Thanks Subaru for making great cars.

I have owned Subarus since our new one in1982, our wagon is similar to the outback, a gl. We chose lt metallic blue with a navy interior. Also had a 1985 wagon with same color. Great color,holds up well. My current car is a 1998 legacy outback with a darker green called spruce that actually changes color on overcast days. I need to repaint, hope I can find the original color.

After three great Foresters, we're expecting to buy a 2020 Outback this year, primarily for further safety features and, we hope, a bright color. We are weary of our Subarus being invisible (or hidden) in parking lots packed with the white/gray/silver vehicles ubiquitous in Florida. OK, black and red are almost always options, but in my declining years I want outrageous..

I'd also sorely love to see a user-friendly manual key, preferably one at-least-available with a head.

But the good news and the bad news copntinue the same. Our Subarus last forever, and I become so attached I hate to part with them. I still miss (and prefer) the boxy models. We keep trading our Subarus for ones with the latest and best safety features long before they are the least bit tired.

I know, with all this to moan about, how lucky are we?

Would like to see "cooler" exterior colors for the Outback-I currently have a 2015 Ice Silver Metallic one. I would also like to see a grey instead of black interior, I have 2 80 lb dogs so I can't have the lighter colors. I am on my 4th Subaru (2 Foresters and 2 Outbacks) the 2020 will be my last-I am 70 years old! I used to live in Alaska and the joke was" that there was a Subaru and pickup in every driveway and in the winter the truck stayed in the drive"

Maybe just a Levorg or two....STI Sport Black Selection or the GT-S Advantage.

We just bought our first outback, cinnamon brown pearl. Beautiful color in the sun. Like all the safety features. Rides nice and has enough room. We have the 2.5 it has enough pickup for our needs. Talked to many people who own Subaru’s never heard anyone not like theirs.

Eye site...lane departure..etc so drivers can be more involved in texting and talking on the phone instead of eyes on the road....You know what no one has ever mentioned?....that windshield with eyesight...which has to be replaced in many states if you have a bullseye chip or crack..............factory style with installation at dealer $1,300...and over $800 at glass shops........a pain in the rear and the pocketbook too!

I love the more powerful turbo engine. But while the Cinnamon brown is very nice, I do want some cooler colors. what about bright yellow. They had it with the Baja years ago. Saab had it with their 900 turbo and now its highly collectable. The VW Beetle in yellow went over well too. Both of those were called or considered quirky , Subaru was too. See the pattern? All made money, a yellow Outback Turbo would too. Make it even a special model Turbo in yellow only or something like that.

I would like to see a lime green color, bright like the sunshine orange.

Best color was the Outback LLBean Green. Looked like classic racing green that you saw on old MG sports cars.
The new army green looks muddy to me.

I currently drive a 1994 Legacy GL. It is white with a beautiful blue interior. I was going to wait to buy a new one, but the colors inside are so drab. I figured by now that Subaru would figure out that most people like variety, inside and out. But, in all the years since, they seem to always follow the pack. I would love to see a translucent teal color that sparkles in the sun, with a lighter interior that doesn't hold the heat in. I'm not a lover of black or leather. By the way, my car has app. 320,000 miles w/original engine. Go Subaru!!!

The typical younger single guy..single girl drivers are the majority of your crosstrek drivers..........they have the gym bag or bag of golf clubs or yoga mats in the back seat and the bicycle rack on the back...they're the ones that will buy colors like flame orange, khaki and caribbean blue .etc..contemplating where they can purchase their next $8 bag of gluten free, range free, sodium reduced organic avocado chips.Typical Outback and forester drivers are the settled married folks submitting to practicality and go with the flow of basic colors....Keep in mind here folks with this comment the key word here is "TYPICAL"...not ALL!

We have owned Subarus since 1986 and never has one left us stranded by the roadside(except for flat tires). Go Subaru!! Loved our 2006 Legacy GT and have waited for the turbo to finally come with an Outback. Regarding colors— I agree with the overall drab selection! We loved our 2011 LLBean green which we discovered on a trip to ME that year— so did everyone else up there!! When we passed that car on to the children in 2016 we were disappointed with the Outback’s boring color options! The only color we liked was Tungsten Metallic since it was different! We are interested in colors other than white, black, gray, or silver so there are few options left. Yes, Subaru, there are many super active retirees who want younger colors on an Outback so Crosstrek here we come for our next car!! (Or maybe we will have to consider Toyota or Honda since they always have a nice color selection!) We will not even consider purchasing a 2020 Outback because there is not one color we like.

I totally agree. I bought the 2019 6cyl Outback in March. There were 4 color choices: black, white, silver and wilderness green. I took the green, since it was the only ‘color’.
I would like some of the mini colors like that dazzling electric blue. The manufactured all seem to serve up the same boring color palette!

I am 69 years old and a woman! I have written to Subaru’s CEO and commented on all social media sites about not being able to get the Outback in ORANGE! I have told my dealer, I would buy today if I could get Orange and have been looking at other manufacturers just to get Orange! I am ready to trade in and will probably find someway to do orange rims on new Outback. The colors are boring and I am not boring. I still trail ride my horse all over and have a BIG ORANGE DODGE RAM Truck . Subaru is missing out on the whole Sort team Market, by not offering cool colors: from Cincinnati and the Orange would be a hit for the Cincinnati Bengals and the new Cincinnati Soccer Team! Look how many teams are Orange. get with it Subaru!
