The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek still needs a new feature you've requested from Subaru of America. Why will the next-generation Canadian models get it, but it's forbidden fruit in the U.S.?
The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims are coming soon. Still, they will be missing a new feature you want but can't get in the U.S. We discovered from Subaru, Canada, that the all-new Crosstrek Touring and top-of-the-lineup Limited trim would come standard with a heated steering wheel. But U.S. customers can only look and not touch.
We are still determining why U.S. spec models still won't be offered with a heated steering wheel. We contacted Subaru, who confirmed the Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims in the U.S. will not have a heated steering wheel for the 2024 model year. This would have been a welcome addition to the U.S.-specification Sport, Limited, and new Wilderness trim levels.
If customers in the U.S. want to keep their hands warm next winter, you'll have to buy a 2024 Outback. The heated steering wheel was available on the Crosstrek Hybrid, but it's been discontinued for the 2024 model year.
The Crosstrek is the brand's "go-anywhere" all-weather compact SUV, the best-selling model in Subaru of America's lineup of vehicles. It's the ideal vehicle for cold-weather climates with standard Symmetrical all-wheel-drive and sits higher with 8.7 inches of ground clearance. A new generation of customers uses it for off-road adventures and winter sports.
The new Crosstrek Sport, Limited, and Wilderness will come standard with the all-weather package that includes heated front seats, windshield, and exterior mirrors but no heated steering wheel.
U.S.-spec 2024 Crosstrek pricing
For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trim levels and has a starting price of $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission).
The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225).
What is the price of the Crosstrek Wilderness?
The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness will be the most expensive Crosstrek trim level. The all-new Crosstrek Wilderness costs $33,290, including dealer destination and delivery fees ($1,295).
The 2024 Crosstrek Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trims will be manufactured in the U.S. for the first time in Lafayette, Indiana. Subaru will continue to make the Crosstrek Base and Premium trim levels at its plant in Gunma, Japan.
The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Base and Premium trims arrive now in the U.S., and Sport, Limited, and Wilderness come later but not with a heated steering wheel. You must go to Canada to get one in the Crosstrek Touring and Limited trim levels. U.S. customers can only look and not touch.

My former 2022 and current
My former 2022 and current 2023 US Forester Tourings have heated steering wheels. One of our fave features for Chicago winters. I might have considered a Crosstrek for a second car, but sounds like nah.
I have a heated steering
I have a heated steering wheel in my ‘21 Outback Touring XT. It gets so hot I don’t leave it on long.
