The all-new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek has been unveiled in Geneva and comes with a new extreme feature that will make it an ideal vehicle for adventure seekers.
The new-generation 2018 Subaru Crosstrek comes with a new feature that upgrades its already impressive off road capability. Subaru’s newly-redesigned crossover utility vehicle (CUV) now comes standard with X-MODE for urban-adventurers. Up until now, Crosstrek has mainly been used for commuting and weekend adventures like getting to the trailhead for hiking, mountain biking and transportation to the ski slope.
The versatility of Crosstrek will now include getting off-road and higher into the mountains away from civilization. Subaru’s all-wheel-drive SUVs, wagons and CUVs have a reputation as go-anywhere vehicles, and now Crosstrek gets X-Mode as standard like its stablemates Forester and Outback. Subaru’s X-Mode can be used for extreme off road situations.
Here’s how it works and why urban-adventurers will want it
When the wheels begin to slide or slip, the X Mode switch located near the gear shift, allows the driver to keep their foot off the brake and let the system do the work. This allows the driver to keep their attention on the road. While many Crosstrek owners will never even use the system, there’s a new-generation of adventure seekers who will.
A new-generation who lead active lifestyles, will use the new second-generation CUV for extreme sports in the mountains. These Crosstrek owners won’t be sitting on the couch watching it on TV. They will use the small crossover to enjoy extreme winter sports in the mountains around the globe for skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. They will also use the newly-redesigned vehicle for summer sporting activities like hiking a fourteener, extreme mountain biking, high-country trail running and back country fishing trips.
With a flip of a switch X Mode is now available on Crosstrek
On unpaved and slippery roads, torque is not distributed evenly to all four wheels, and one or more wheels can begin to slip and the vehicle can lose traction getting stuck in the snow or mud. X Mode is designed to be used easily and can be engaged with a flip of a switch. The X Mode will allow any driver regardless of skill level, to escape any extreme situation they may encounter. Many 2018 Subaru Crosstrek owners will never use X Mode, but there’s a new-generation of adventurer-seekers who will, and will encounter unpaved back country roads that are slippery and uneven. The Crosstrek’s X Mode will now get them higher into the mountains and away from civilization.
