If you are into birds, the new Subaru ascent 3-Row family hauler is the vehicle for you. See what Subaru is offering bird watchers.

Subaru wants the largest vehicle they’ve ever built to have a “go-anywhere” attitude for getting away from civilization like it’s other all-wheel-drive stablemates. Now families can use the Ascent to get away and spot birds in their local area. Subaru is offering the all-new 2019 Ascent 3-Row family hauler with an interesting and unusual app. It’s part of Subaru’s Starlink infotainment system called eBird. The crowdsourced bird-watching app tells you not only where to look for birds in a given area, but also species that may be present.

The new eBird app was developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and is exclusive to Subaru vehicles. Subaru says you have access to a database of millions of bird sightings to act as a “digital coach” for finding and navigating to birds in real time. The data is openly available for scientific research, education, and conservation.

The app has been added to the new 2019 Subaru Ascent 3-Row’s multimedia system, works through the Starlink in-vehicle technology and in conjunction with your smartphone. The Japanese automaker now offers the eBird app on all new 2019 nameplates.

If families are going for a hike, the eBird app can even help you decide where the ideal trail is for the best sightings of the birds you want to see. It tells you the best locations and the distance from your current location and also pulls up full-screen photos to help you confirm your sightings. You can get local bird sightings and locations as you drive.

With 8.7-inches of ground clearance and standard AWD off-road capability, the new 2019 Subaru Ascent can carry you and up to seven of your avian-loving friends almost anywhere birds can be spotted.
