Should you buy the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness? Check out how to make it even more rugged for off-road treks with a lift kit. It looks good, but do you need it? Here's why I think it's a waste of money.
If the all-new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness trim level isn't rugged enough, check out what else you can do for your off-road treks. LP Aventure now has a lift kit for the all-new 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness, Subaru's newest Wilderness family member. It's for outdoor enthusiasts who want to get further off the grid. Do you need it?
I've written countless stories on why the third-generation Crosstrek is the best subcompact SUV without the Wilderness upgrades. Add Crosstrek's 9.3 inches of ground clearance, under body armor, and 2.5-liter Boxer engine, and it's a formable off-road warrior right off the showroom floor.
But if the factory Crosstrek Wilderness isn't rugged enough for you, you can add extreme upgrades to get further away from civilization.
I've covered LP Aventure upgrades before on the Forester, Outback, and Ascent. And now they've given the Crosstrek Wilderness added goodies.
This 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness is outfitted with an LP Aventure lift kit and LP Aventure LP8 wheels by their friends at @autoplexrestyling. They say they're not 100 percent sure about this build, but they usually run 225/60R17 tires.
The factory Crosstrek Wilderness is equipped with Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires for optimal mud, gravel, or snow performance and mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels in the matte-black finish. In addition, the tires are embossed with raised white letters.
Should you buy the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness with 9.3 inches of ground clearance or buy the LP Aventure lift kit for $719.10 USD?
The LP Aventure Crosstrek lift kit increases ground clearance to 10.2 inches, including the 2018-2024 Crosstrek model years. The 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness already comes with 9.3 inches of rock clearing ground clearance. But the extra clearance of the lift kit sounds appealing.
What is the price of the factory MSRP of the Crosstrek Wilderness?
The new 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness costs $33,290, including dealer destination and delivery fees ($1,295).
The Crosstrek Wilderness is the Subaru of America's "go-anywhere" all-terrain capable subcompact SUV, and it's the ideal vehicle for all weather conditions with standard Symmetrical all-wheel-drive, 9.3 inches of ground clearance, X-Mode, and dual function X-Mode. In addition, a younger demographic of customers with active lifestyles will use it for extreme off-pavement adventures and summer sports.
The most rugged and trail-capable Crosstrek has an upgraded suspension, all-terrain tires, more prominent wheel arch cladding, a metal front skid plate, unique hex-design LED fog lights, and an anti-glare hood decal in a matte-black finish. It has almost everything you want in an off-road-ready small SUV.
MY TAKE
Should you buy a lift kit for your Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness that gives you 10.2 inches of ground clearance, or keep the new 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness stock from the factory? Subaru made the Crosstrek Wilderness the most capable all-terrain subcompact SUV you can buy. The LP Aventure lift kit makes the Wilderness trim look good, but I wouldn’t buy it.
