The new Subaru Impreza is the brand’s most important build since Crosstrek. Did they get it right?
The 2017 Subaru Impreza is Subaru’s most important build since Crosstrek was launched in 2012. The Subaru Crosstrek was launched with seating for five, plenty of addable options and an entry-level price tag. Crosstrek was a winner in the compact crossover category. It featured all-wheel-drive, boxer engine technology, 8.7 inches of ground clearance and versatility with 51.9 cubic feet of interior cargo space.
Now, Impreza is in the spotlight as Subaru’s newest build and it’s an important one. It’s their most important build since Crosstrek because it launches the new Global Platform that will underpin all future Subaru models. This new architecture will offer consumers greater levels of comfort, safety and a new dynamic driving feel. This is the future of Subaru.
Impreza sets the tone for future Subaru vehicles
The new 2017 Subaru Impreza gets a whole new design that will set the tone for its stablemates. Subaru says “It’s inherited aspirations take on a whole new value.” It’s new lines, look, build and appearance are all designed with a new generation of consumers in mind. It looks like Subaru got it right.
Subaru took design cues from the past and blended with their new Global Platform to come up with the new Impreza. Subaru designers closely examined their cars from the past to come up with what they call their “Dynamic and Solid” expression. Subaru says they’ve woven in five elements into the new design for a “vivid expression” of the two concepts. They are Stance, Volume, Surface, Sporty and Advanced.
The 2017 Subaru Impreza gets new driving performance and improved driving dynamics it hasn’t had in awhile. Since the Impreza parted ways with its performance stablemate WRX, it lost some of its sporty appeal. Now it gets some of that mojo back. Subaru needed to get this right and it looks like their efforts payed off.
