Subaru Japan announces a new 2016 Outback Smart Edition that gets extra luxury. Is this another Japan-only model or future US spec Outback improvements?
Subaru is giving their all-wheel-drive “go-anywhere” vehicles more luxury than before. They are known for their off-road ability, but Subaru is also wanting to move the brand in a more refined direction. Subaru won’t ever get away from their heritage of recreation-purposed crossovers, but more luxury is on the way.
What sets this 2016 Subaru Outback Limited Smart Edition apart?
Subaru announced this new Japan-only Outback Limited will be released on January 5, 2016 and feature new luxury inside. The wagon will feature ultra suede materials on the seats and door trim which will give it a more luxurious feel. The interior will come with black piano trim with dark embossed silver-tone decorative and gloss to enhance the metallic texture throughout the cabin.
The Outback Limited Smart Edition also gets addition exterior enhancements to set it apart. It comes with black cladding on the bumpers and side molding and front air grille vent. The new Outback can be ordered in Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Dark Gray Metallic, Venetian Red Pearl, Dark Blue Pearl, Lapis Blue Pearl, Grey Platinum Metallic and Tungsten Metallic exterior colors.
Subaru recently unveiled a new 2016 WRX S4 SporVita at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015 and it received a new luxury cabin that comes from renowned Italian leather maker Mario Levi. Subaru also brought a 2016 Legacy sedan with the same luxury leather interior to the Tokyo show. If this isn’t a new luxury option for the entire brands lineup, it should be. The new 2016 Subaru Outback Limited Smart Edition also gets new luxury enhancements and it could be a sign of things to come at Subaru.
