The 2022 Subaru Outback is now Subaru of America’s hottest model and one of the fastest-selling in November. What happened to Forester and Crosstrek?
The 2022 Subaru Outback is Subaru of America’s number one selling model, and now a new report from iSeeCars says the midsize SUV ties for the fastest-selling new cars in the most states. And two of those states are in the southern U.S., where an all-wheel-drive SUV is not typically a hot seller.
The 2022 Subaru Outback tied with the top-selling Toyota RAV4 as the fastest-selling new car in the most states (5) in November. The Outback midsize SUV sold the fastest in Kentucky (5.5 days), Maryland (5.7 days), Ohio (6.3 days), Alabama (8.1 days), and Minnesota (15.6 days).

Why is the 2022 Outback the hot model in Subaru’s all-wheel-drive lineup?
The Subaru Outback has always been synonymous with the outdoors and was the original adventure vehicle. The Outback has been around since 1995 when the Japanese automaker launched the first model. But the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness is a big hit with a young demographic and a big reason why the Outback is one of the hottest SUVs this fall.
Subaru of America introduced the new 2022 Outback Wilderness this year, and it has been a massive success for the Camden, N.J. automaker. Subaru retailers are selling them as fast as they get them.

What sets the Wilderness trim apart from the standard model are 9.5 inches of ground clearance, an off-road-tuned suspension, Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires, an aluminum engine skid plate, and a steel rear differential skid plate. The upgrades allow the Wilderness model to trek further and tow more.
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Outback?
The 2022 Outback comes in eight trim levels; the base trim is priced from $27,845, Premium ($30,270), Limited ($34,720), Touring ($38,620), Onyx Edition XT ($36,270), new for 2022, Outback Wilderness ($38,120), Limited XT ($39,120), and Touring XT ($41,070). Pricing includes $1,125 destination and delivery fees.
Where are the Subaru Forester and Crosstrek? The Forester and Crosstrek have been the hottest new all-wheel-drive SUVs for Subaru of America all year but failed to make the fastest-selling news cars list in November.
In November, the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek did sell fastest in Arizona (5.8 days) and Washington (10.9 days). The 2022 Subaru Ascent was the fastest-selling new car in Oregon (21.4 days) last month.
The 2021 Subaru Forester and 2021 Subaru Crosstrek have been hot models for Subaru of America and flying off retailers’ lots all year. The Outback is the brand’s hottest model in November. The 2022 Subaru Outback is Subaru of America’s number one selling model, and now the midsize SUV ties for the fastest-selling new cars in five states.
