Subaru positioned itself perfectly with the 2021 Crosstrek. See why customers are buying record numbers of the subcompact SUV.
Subaru is the hot brand again as customers bought a record number of the automaker’s second-generation Crosstrek in October. Subaru of America reports sales with retailers delivering 61,411 vehicles to customers, also a new record, increasing 11 percent over last year. The star of the lineup is the refreshed 2021 Crosstrek with the new 2.5-liter Boxer engine.
Subaru positioned itself perfectly with the 2021 Crosstrek this fall as the subcompact SUV posted a record October with 14,994 sales, a 24 percent increase over the same month in 2019. The Crosstrek even passed the hot Subaru Forester, which had 14,697 sales, a 7.6 percent decrease over October 2019.
Momentum for the refreshed Crosstrek helped Subaru of America achieve the strongest sales month of the year. Subaru updated the 2021 Crosstrek with a more powerful 2.5-liter direct-injection Boxer engine with 30 additional horsepower, and customers responded in a big way.
Subaru needed the Crosstrek to do well after it received criticism for being underpowered. Subaru ramped up production in anticipation of the model selling well, and retailers had enough of the subcompact SUVs to sell as it arrived late summer.
The hot trim level is the all-new 2021 Crosstrek Sport with the 2.5-liter engine upgrade. The Sport trim also gets the dual function X-Mode previously available on Forester Sport, and Outback XT trims. Now Crosstrek brings the added all-weather all-terrain feature.
What is dual function X-Mode? This upgraded X-Mode version allows the driver to select between two different settings tailored to adverse driving conditions; snow/dirt and deep snow/mud. This upgrade will be valuable for those going farther off the trail needing the extra level of off-road capability.
What is the price of the 2021 Crosstrek?
The 2021 Crosstrek comes in five trim levels for customers. The base trim is priced from $22,245, Premium ($23,295), all-new Sport ($26,495), and Limited with the 2.5-liter engine ($27,995). Destination and delivery add $1,050.
Subaru hit a home run with the newly-upgraded 2021 Crosstrek. Customers bought record numbers of the subcompact SUV.
