The 2022 Subaru BRZ is now one of Japan's ten Car Of The Year finalists. See why the sports coupe has an excellent chance to win.
The next-generation 2022 Subaru BRZ sports coupe has just been nominated as one of the final ten models for Japan's 2022 Car Of The Year. The second-generation BRZ just got better and is possibly the best sports car for the money. The BRZ advanced to the final round from all twenty-nine nominated vehicles. The 2022 Subaru Outback was also one of the twenty-nine cars but did not make the final cut.
Vehicles eligible for Car of the Year must be produced in volumes of at least 10,000 units/year, must be priced below the luxury-car level in their primary markets, and must be "on-sale" in at least two major markets (China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, USA) on at least two separate continents within the period January 1, 2021, and March 30, 2022.
The 2022 BRZ received a complete redesign from the ground up and is powered by a new naturally-aspirated direct and port fuel injection 2.4-liter Boxer engine. The BRZ is one of the most affordable rear-drive sports cars in the U.S. and around the globe.
The all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ is manufactured with the next-generation Toyota GR86 at Subaru's Gunma, Japan factory. The GR86 is also one of Japan's 10-best cars nominated for the 2022 Car Of The Year award.
Other recognizable candidates include the Toyota Land Cruiser, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, BMW 4 Series Chevrolet Corvette, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Volkswagen Golf.
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru BRZ?
The new 2022 Subaru BRZ Premium trim with a 6-speed manual gearbox has a starting price of $28,955. BRZ Premium with an automatic transmission starts at $30,555. The Limited (6-speed manual) has a starting MSRP of $31,455. The Limited with an automatic transmission starts at $33,255. All pricing includes destination and delivery fees.
The second-generation 2022 Subaru BRZ is lighter, faster, safer, and stays affordable with a new trim level that costs less than the previous generation price. The BRZ has an excellent shot at the Car of the Year award. The all-new BRZ has already begun to arrive on U.S. shores and is on sale now in limited quantities in North America.
