Subaru has been criticized for its bland exterior styling on the 2023 Forester and other new models. Not everyone agrees because Subaru just won four new model design awards.
Fans are disappointed in the 2023 Subaru Forester, next-generation 2024 Crosstrek, and other new model styling. Why does Subaru keep its new models plain and boring? Not everyone agrees. Check out the new awards from Good Design that Subaru Corporation just won.
You aren't alone if you think the 2023 Subaru Forester, next-generation 2024 Crosstrek, and other new model styling are plain and boring. Fans ask why Subaru's exterior styling barely changes from the previous generation to the next-generation models. Why doesn't Subaru bring more extensive exterior design changes to Forester and other models?
Fans may not be excited about Subaru's design language, but the Japanese automaker picked up four new awards from the Good Design team. Subaru announced four new models picked up the award. But the Forester and new Crosstrek are not on the list.
Which new models win design awards?
Subaru says the newly-redesigned 2023 Subaru Outback, all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra, next-generation 2022 Subaru WRX, and next-generation Subaru BRZ pick up new awards for the best design language. It's not the first time the Japanese automaker has won Good Design awards.
The winner in 2012 was the 2013 XV Crosstrek, and the Impreza compact and the Forester SUV took home the honors in 2014. The 2016 Subaru Outback wagon and Legacy sedan also picked up awards.
The 2023 Outback midsize SUV gets significant new updates with a redesigned front fascia, the latest version of EyeSight safety technology, and a new wide-angle mono camera.
The 2023 Subaru Solterra all-electric SUV is all-new and comes with the new exterior styling. The next-generation 2022 Subaru WRX was severely critiqued by performance fans for its styling, but the sports car also earned the Good Design award. The newly-redesigned BRZ also picks up its first award from the organization.
The announcement also says Subaru Corporation get an award for its new "SUBAROAD" app for iOS and Android users.
Subaru says "SUBAROAD" is a driving app for Japanese Subaru owners "that provides rewarding roads and discoveries, rather than just seeing riding in a car as a mere move. Through SUBAROAD, the automaker "will provide Subaru owners with a new driving experience that makes driving itself enjoyable."
The 2023 Subaru Outback, 2023 Solterra, 2022 WRX, and 2023 BRZ all pick awards from the Good Design Awards. You can't say anymore that these Subaru models are unexciting and dull.
