Unlike its STI stablemate with an exaggerated rear wing, the Subaru BRZ tS returns with an understated rear spoiler. See the updated 2020 Subaru BRZ model change.

Subaru of America announced pricing and the 2020 BRZ model change with the return of the BRZ tS limited edition model. Subaru will only build 300 BRZ tS (tuned by STI) with a price of $31,495 for U.S. performance customers. Torque News reported in July the special edition BRZ tS would make its return after the EPA put fuel mileage numbers up on its website.

The first BRZ tS launched in 2018 with a big wing, like the STI, but the 2020 BRZ tS gets a new low-profile rear spoiler so it can fly under the radar. The 2020 BRZ tS comes in one color, a new Ceramic White. Torque News reported in April, the 2020 Subaru WRX and WRX STI would also get a limited edition WRX Series.White and 2020 Subaru WRX STI Series.White in the same Ceramic White exterior color. Subaru has not officially announced these models.

2020 Subaru BRZ tS

The 2020 BRZ tS gets suspension upgrades from Subaru Tecnica International that includes STI-tuned front and rear SACHS dampers and coil springs as well as an STI flexible V-brace in the engine compartment. The brakes also get upgraded to Brembo four-piston calipers and rotors on the front and dual-piston calipers and rotors on the rear. The BRZ tS rides on 18-inch wheels in matte-bronze finish wrapped in 215/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The 2.0-liter Boxer engine remains unchanged with 205 horsepower for all 2020 BRZ models.

The exterior gets special tS accents and badging as does the interior that will feature black leather and Alcantara upholstery with contrasting red stitching and accents, including on the steering wheel, door and dash panels, knee pads, shifter and emergency brake boots and visor over the gauge cluster. The front seats have red leather bolsters and the seatbacks are embroidered with the tS logo.

The 2020 Subaru BRZ is offered in two trim levels, Limited and tS, with a starting price of $28,845. The 2020 BRZ Limited with optional automatic transmission is priced at $29,945. Subaru still offers the Performance Package ($1,195) for the Limited trim with manual transmission. It features upgraded Brembo brakes with four-piston calipers and rotors on the front and dual-piston calipers and rotors on the rear. SACHS Performance shock absorbers are added to all four corners and it rides on 17 x 7.5-inch aluminum alloy wheels in a dark gray finish.

2020 Subaru BRZ

It has not been confirmed by Subaru when the new-generation BRZ/86 will arrive. It could be another year before the remodeled Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 sports coupe is revealed. The first 2020 Subaru BRZ and BRZ tS will arrive at dealer showrooms later this fall.

Probably because that big wing scared a lot of people off. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose but I know my wife and I thought it was stupid looking. No way would we buy a car with that gawd awful thing on it. I’d rather have something other than a free floating wing altogether, but a little one is not too bad. I definitely wouldn’t want one so over the top as that big unnecessary eyesore. It made me think of that scene in Gran Torino where Clint Eastwood was telling the kid what not to do with the car he was giving him, the “big %@Y spoiler” that “just looks like hell.”

As said above, “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. When my wife and I were looking for a used BRZ a year ago and observing the choices on line, we also felt the rear spoiler on the tS was too big and gaudy.
Then we looked at a tS in person and FELL IN LOVE....... it is over the top, but that’s what makes it soooooo cool (at least to us). The BRZ Limited we drove after that was nice but it just seemed to be missing something. I like to “stand out in a crowd” and that the tS does well. It wasn’t long after that we bought a tS, and have enjoyed zipping around in it ever sense.

The enterior looks amazing, and im sure the car will brake / handle amazing. To bad it wont accelerate just as well. Hopefully subaru will pull their heads out of their asses, and put a motor in the next model around 250 whp. That would make all the difference, and make this car amazing (coming from a previous owner)..
