The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is now the fastest-selling model in two states. See why it's the hottest car in the state of California. Check out why here.
We recently reported the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is on fire and the fastest-selling new car in seven U.S. cities, the most of any automaker's new car model. Now, iSeeCars reports that the Subaru Crosstrek is the fastest-selling model in California and Connecticut.
iSeeCars analyzed the data to find the fastest-selling new cars in every state. They found the average days to sell a new vehicle is 26.0 days, but the Crosstrek spends much less time on a dealer's lot in California and Connecticut before selling. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek only takes 4.8 days to sell in California and takes just 7.9 days to see in Connecticut.
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek now tops any new car model selling fastest in the most cities across the U.S. The refreshed Crosstrek moves off dealers' lots quickest in Harrisburg-Lancaster-York, PA (5.9 days), Hartford & New Haven, CT (8.0 days), Los Angeles, CA (4.2 days), Philadelphia, PA (5.1 days), Portland, OR (4.8 days), and Washington, DC (Hagerstown, MD) (4.9 days).
Why is the newly-refreshed Crosstrek so popular?
The Crosstrek offers active customers a small SUV with standard all-wheel-drive, a taller ride height (8.7-inches of ground clearance), fuel efficiency, off-pavement performance (dual-function X-Mode), and the best industry safety crash scores and ratings. It also comes with a new 2.5-liter engine with 30 additional horsepower in the new Sport and Limited trim levels.
Subaru Corporation restarted the plant in Gunma, Japan, this week, where they manufacture the popular Crosstrek subcompact SUV. The production start-up will help as inventory of the small SUV has been extremely tight across the U.S. this summer.
The 2021 Subaru Forester also makes the fastest-selling cars list and is flying off dealers' lots in Montana. It takes just 5.3 days to sell a new Forester in the Big Sky state.
What should customers do during the car shortage?
Many customers who can wait are ordering the new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek in the color and trim level they want. A source close to Subaru told us this week, if you order a 2021 Crosstrek today, it will arrive in November.
When will the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek arrive in the U.S.?
Subaru of America has not announced the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek yet, and customers may not see the model change until next spring. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will remain hard to find, as most new models arriving from Japan have already been sold before they reach Subaru retailers.
How long will Subaru Crosstrek inventory levels remain low?
A report from IHS Markit said this week said the chip famine wouldn't be solved quickly. The automotive team at IHS Markit Automotive calculates that semiconductor supply won't catch up with industry demand until late 2022, and shortfalls of some advanced-function chips will likely persist into 2023.
The refreshed Crosstrek is in high demand in most areas of the country, but the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is now the fastest-selling in California and Connecticut.
