Subaru will launch 50th anniversary special edition models in 2018 to celebrate 50 years in the U.S. What new models are coming?
Subaru of America (SOA) is celebrating 50 years in the U.S. in a big way with celebratory events, 50th anniversary special edition models and by giving away 50 new cars. SOA was founded on February 15, 1968 by two American business men who began selling Subaru franchises on the east coast and started selling the tiny Subaru 360. Now, Subaru of America has evolved into the largest market for parent company Fuji Heavy Industries.
To commemorate the special anniversary, the Cherry Hill, New Jersey automaker will launch new special edition models that will debut in early 2018. Throughout this year, Subaru says they will host a number of celebratory events, culminating in “a series” of special edition model vehicles launching in early 2018. Subaru didn’t elaborate on which models would be coming, and will announce more information later.
What new models are coming?
We can only speculate, that Subaru will be bringing out new special editions of their most popular models like the Outback wagon, Forester SUV and Crosstrek crossover. Performance enthusiasts could also be seeing a new special edition 2018 WRX and WRX STI performance sedan.
Subaru has launched a number of special edition models recently like the Pure Red Crosstrek last year, the BRZ Series.Yellow special edition sports coupe, and 2016 Series.HyperBlue WRX STI. These models have unique colors, interior trims and exterior badging to set them apart.
Subaru announced they will also be giving way 50 of their vehicles to one special charity in the U.S, called “50 cars for 50 years” to mark the event. Subaru says they will announce the name of the charity at a later date.
