The New England Motor Press Association votes the 2015 Subaru Outback the best in class sedan or wagon under $30K. What does NEMPA like about Outback?
It would be easier to answer the question, what didn’t the New England Motor Press Association like about the new 2015 SUV-alternative Outback. It has won the NEMPA’ “Winter Car of the Year” award so many times, they had to create another category to give other cars a chance at a trophy. Now it picks up another award beating out all other sedans and wagons under $30,000.
The New England Motor Press Association sure is impressed with the new Outback wagon. Refined, roomy and economical is how New England journalist Collin Davis describes the new fifth generation Outback. The SUV-alternative’s all-weather traction is a big draw in the New England area where the roads can get icy and slick in the winter. It also gets high marks for its available advanced safety features which include EyeSight.

They also tout the affordable price on the 2.5i model that starts at $24,895 plus destination. The 2.5i also gets an impressive 25/33 city/highway fuel mileage with all-wheel-drive included as standard.
Torque News journalist and NEMPA member John Goreham commented on the 2015 Outback 2.5i Premium. Goreham says, “The Outback offers a great mix of features without some of the costly ones you won’t miss. Nobody ever regrets buying one. You’ll love it all year round, and when it snows, you are in the best car at any price. That the price is about $30K makes it all the sweeter.”
Not the first award for Outback
The 2015 Subaru Outback was chosen as one of the “10 Best Family Cars of 2015” by Parents magazine and Edmunds.com again. Outback is a repeat winner in the Wagon category not only because of its redesign with a roomier more comfortable interior and higher fuel efficiency, but because of its safety systems that makes it a safer vehicle for families. Outback was also chosen as the “Rocky Mountain SUV of the Year” by Rocky Mountain Automotive Press (RMAP) this year.
