COVID-19 spurs Subaru rate cuts on its most popular models, 2020 Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek. See how much SUV shoppers can save if you buy a new car now.
If you are in need of a new 2020 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, Ascent or another all-wheel-drive model, now is the best time in the automaker’s history to buy or lease one. Subaru announced in a dealer incentive bulletin, because of the COVID-19 health issue affecting sales, and temporarily shutting down its U.S. plant, they are significantly cutting interest rates across its entire lineup. Subaru historically has the lowest incentives of any automaker, but that is changing.
Subaru made big changes this week and is now offering the lowest rates to date on all models. There is an unprecedented opportunity now for SUV shoppers to get a new Subaru at zero percent interest or extremely low-interest rates. Before the coronavirus health crisis, Subaru was offering limited vehicles with zero percent for 48 months, while some models were eligible for 0.9 percent for the same term.
Now, the 2020 Subaru Forester, Outback, Ascent, Impreza, and Legacy all are being offered with 0 percent interest for 63 months. With these new low rates and longer terms, car shoppers can take advantage of substantial savings.
Before the coronavirus outbreak, on models like the 2020 Subaru Outback Limited ($33,445) with $0 down and 0.9 percent financing for 48 months, the monthly payment would have been $710/month. Now with zero percent interest for 63 months, the monthly payment drops to $530, a savings of $180 per month. The new 63-month financing option makes the Outback cheaper than the previous 48-month offering despite being 15 months longer.
The third best selling model in the lineup, 2020 Subaru Crosstrek, is now being offered with 0.9 percent financing, a drop from the previous 3.49 percent interest rate featured last week. 2020 Subaru WRX and BRZ performance models also dropped two percentage points from 2.9 percent to 0.9 percent interest rates but the term stays the same at 48 months.
Subaru has not announced any payment relief for its current owners. Subaru does have a Payment Deferment Program and you may be eligible to defer payments for up to 90 days. Check with your local Subaru dealer because not all showrooms are open during this time of shelter-in-place enacted in many U.S. cities. You can call the Subaru Concierge team (1-800-317-6276) and they can help locate a dealer that is still open. Even if you have to drive farther, it will be worth the savings if you buy a new 2020 Subaru Forester, Outback, Ascent, or Crosstrek now.

Now if only they got rid of
Now if only they got rid of that stupid auto start /stop feature. I would snatch one right up. I will not drive one of those cars that turns off by itself and has to be manually done every time. There should be a way to permanently disable this. I will be sticking with older Subarus from this point forward
Just buy one. All cars will
Just buy one. All cars will eventually have them. You'll get into the habit of turning it off over time. At some point in time someone will design a work around that'll shut it off permanently.
Only if they would replace
Only if they would replace the front windshield with a thicker after market one that won't crack.
