The 2017 “Subaru XV Concept” will make its world debut at the Geneva International Motor Show. What will it reveal?
The Subaru XV Concept is coming to the Geneva Motor Show to be held in Switzerland March 3-13. Subaru released a teaser image that shows a chiseled front end of the XV which is Subaru’s XV Crosstrek. It’s the XV in other global markets and Crosstrek in the U.S. Subaru has a new global platform coming on the 2017 Impreza and all Subarus along with the new Crosstrek crossover will come with this global platform. What will the XV Concept reveal?
Subaru’s new design language
The Impreza 5-Door and Sedan concepts were forerunners and revealed the brand’s new exterior design. XV Concept will give another peak into the new design language for the new-generation Crosstrek. Like most Subaru concepts, this show model won’t make it to production. It will reveal where the brand is heading in the future.
New safety performance
Along with new exterior styling, the XV Concept will likely show new technologies that are coming like new safety features and interior upgrades. We already know the 2017 Crosstrek is coming with new safety performance. Crosstrek gets an advanced safety package that includes a wide range of driver detection systems with a rear radar blind spot detection, lane change assist, auto high-beam and auto-dimming rear view mirror. Subaru also includes as standard equipment SRS side air bag and SRS curtain air bags.
New generation hybrid technology
The XV Concept will likely be powered with Subaru’s new generation hybrid technology that was seen in the VIZIV Concept vehicle unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. It combines a downsized turbo boxer engine, first introduced in the Levorg sports tourer, that improves fuel efficiency and still keeps the fun-to-drive meter pegged.
The VX Concept will show even more new Subaru technologies coming soon to all next-generation models with the Subaru Global platform first seen on the Impreza Concepts. The 2017 Impreza will be built at the newly-expanded plant in Indiana. Crosstrek will continue to be built in Subaru’s plant in Gunma, Japan. The XV Concept makes its global debut March 1, 2016 at the Geneva International Motor Show. Stay tuned.
