The Subaru WRX Is Faster From 0-60 MPH Than 10 New Sports Cars, Slower Than 3

Everything I've read suggest the 2020 WRX manual goes 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. I've never seen anyone report it at 6.0. Is that maybe the CVT version?

Not sure where that data came from. The rooster turbo is under 5.5 seconds easily. The wrx is faster than 6.0 as well maybe the elevation played a part and or they didn't turn off traction control . Bone stock genesis coupe a 3.8 NA are low 5'sand even seen a few below 5 at 4.8 ish

Civic Type R?

I drive a 2013 V6 boringly mundane Camry non-enthusiast auto appliance that will reach 0-60 in 5.8sec. It does get marginally exciting when I pull up next to a WRX at a stop light though.

none of those cars mentioned are sports cars including yours.

Uh.. what? Most of the times of the slower vehicles and the WRX are off by about half a second unless you're at altitude.

A couple of key details:
1. are the WRX 0 - 60 times posted with a manual tranny or auto(CVT) I'm guessing the CVT. The new Crosstrek with it's 2.5L engine is fasted in auto mode with it's CVT
2. The $29K price WRX is real tough to find - availabiity issues. Most are in the $32 - $35K range which conpared to the comp prices you list, is still a good deal though I'm not so sure I'd consider a WRX base model to a Porsche Boxter if one had that kind of money to spend. Porsche all the way, sorry!

The Kia Stinger destroys the WRX and does so with complete ease, for the same money. And yes, it also has AWD, a nicer cockpit, more room, bigger trunk/hatch and a better warranty. And last but not least, is a better looking car and value in almost every way.

The v6 accord 4dr still has the wrx beat with a 5.7s 0-60. I mean this article was not written well at all. These cars can't compare, even the Honda accord 2.0T is missing. You can't compare a wrx to a stock civic c'mon.

You forgot the golf R..m

No mention of the currently unavailable elephant in the room? The Golf R will smoke all of them except Porsche, and at $37K-39K it fits right in.
But also not a sports car.......

Way to ignore the Civic Type R, the Stinger or the Veloster N. To have the Civic Si but not the Type R and to have the Veloster Turbo but not the N, they don't even cost that much over the WRX, heck the N is probably cheaper. And don't say the Stinger isn't a sports car. Four doors, AWD, over 200 horsepower (350+ on the top trims), it qualifies the same way the WRX qualifies. And if you argue about the size, the Mustang is pretty much the same length and width, just a bit lighter.

Agreed, these numbers are incorrect!
You also forgot the Golf R & Focus RS (yes, I know the RS is not made anymore!), But these would be it's closest competition.

I'm pretty sure no study was requires for this. I could have put most of these cars I. The correct order off the top of my head. Of course a boosted 2.3 beats out an NA 2.0. But weird flex on the faster cars. Who is suprised that a 62K Porches beats a STI? Where are the Mustang and Camero numbers? Is a 235i really a sports car?

All of these cars will all disappear. Electric cars are faster, cost less to use and maintain. The brands that don't adopt EV will go out if business...

What about a Corvette?

Where the hell did you go to get these 0-60 numbers? Almost all of these are off. Even the wrx does 60 under 6.
