The driver of a Subaru Forester XT posts a shocking video of himself driving off a cliff. It’s amazing he survives the incredible ordeal.
The driver of a 2004 Subaru Forester XT almost lost his life as his dash cam captures his car going over a steep cliff. It all happened on one of the most dangerous roads in the world called the Angels Crest Highway which is part of California State Route 2. It’s known for it’s windy canyon roads and incredible scenery. This driver got distracted and drove right over the steep cliff.
It happen one year ago and he just posted this video to help others learn from his monumental mistake. In the video post he says, “This is a reminder to be safe, pay attention and KNOW THE ROAD before you try to enjoy it. I failed on all 3 of those accounts and it nearly cost me my life.” Watch the shocking video below.
Angels Crest Highway is one of the coolest drives in Southern California, but it can be treacherous and many people have lost their lives on some of the windy canyon curves. Segments of the road reach altitudes above 7,000 feet, with a summit of 7,903 feet at the Dawson Saddle, which makes this road one of the highest in Southern California. Drivers definitely need to be paying attention on this high mountain road.
This 2004 Subaru Forester XT owner is an auto enthusiast who was checking out his 2.0-liter turbo engine exhaust note in the tunnel and accelerated through the dark tunnel to find himself blinded by the sun as he exited the other end. It only took a split second and he was going head first over the steep canyon cliff. He explains how it happened, “To put it simply, I was going faster than I should have been and got distracted at the one moment that required 110 percent focus on an unfamiliar road.” He’s lucky to be alive for sure.
