Japan will be getting a special 40th Anniversary Edition 2016 BMW 3 Series Sedan. What sets it apart and how many of the special editions will make it to Japan?
BMW announced they will bring a 40th Anniversary Edition BMW 3 Series Sedan to the Japan market. BMW is celebrating the 3 Series 40 year anniversary and they chose the 340i to commemorate the occasion. Japan will be getting this limited edition 2016 BMW 3 Series and just 20 examples will be produced.
Outside, the ultra-exclusive 3 Series will be based on the 340i M Sport and comes with a Tanzanite Blue exterior paint job complete with a black grille, satin aluminum accents and 19-inch M light alloy wheels. Inside, it gets Dakota leather seats, piano black trim and a BMW Individual leather-wrapped dashboard. The 20 special editions will also come with heated front seats, a heads-up display and a Harman/Kardon infotainment system.
This limited edition 340i is powered by the all-new 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine that has 326 PS and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque. It comes mated an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels.
The BMW 3 Series continues to be the car that defines the brand and it’s the most successful BMW of all-time. BMW has not forgotten what their core values are and have kept the 3 Series responsive, compact, fun to drive and connected to the driver. The 3 Series is an icon for the German automaker and remains to this day the quintessential BMW.
Pricing for the 2016 BMW 340i 40th Anniversary Edition model will start from 8,790,000 yen and the 20 lucky owners will get a special numbered plaque and unique badges to help distinguish them from the regular 340i. The model will be available starting October 3, 2015.
