Nissan Frontier sales skyrocket: What will happen when the 2018 Frontier gets a remodel?

When will the newly-remodeled Nissan Frontier arrive? It could be coming next year. Nissan reports the brand is up 14 percent for April, but the aging Frontier pickup sales are up 29 percent over the same month last year. The mid-size pickup market is hot and Nissan could cash in even more with a fresh model. Just image what the Frontier will do when it gets a redo. It’s competing in a tough market with the newly-remodeled Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado and it needs to be updated. Here’s why Nissan has been holding off on bringing out a new Frontier.

When is the new Frontier remodel coming?

Nissan has not announced when the Frontier will get a badly-needed remodel, but mid-size truck buyers can expect it to be coming soon. Nissan just launched the new full-size Titan XD that will attempt to carve out a niche in unchallenged territory between half-ton and three-quarter-ton segments. Nissan is keeping things close to the vest regarding a new Frontier to avoid taking attention away from their new Titan XD full-size truck.

Look for Frontier to step it up

When the new Frontier does arrive, likely as a 2018 model next year, it will get much-needed exterior and interior styling changes along with Nissan’s latest NissanConnect and mobile apps. The Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado have received good reviews and it’s time for Nissan to step up and give mid-size truck buyers another option. Now that the 2016 Nissan Titan XD has arrived, Nissan's next big project will be to update its aging midsize Frontier. Look for the 2018 Nissan Frontier to be a major player in the competitive mid-size pickup market.

I hope the new Nissan Frontier crew cab model has a bit more leg space for the back seat; quieter (better noise insulation) cabin.

I purchased a 2016 Frontier about 6 months ago because I am a senior with a weak back and shoulders and this is a truck with a 6' bed lower enough to the ground that I can reach over the sides and place cargo into the bed. Also I would like the ride to be more smooth.
