The 2020 Honda Accord scores not one but 2 awards in December. See why the sedan is rated the best.
In the highly-competitive mid-size sedan segment with the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Kia Optima, Ford Fusion, Subaru Legacy, and Hyundai Sonata, the 2020 Honda Accord beats them all in two separate awards this month. Accord was named to the Car and Driver 10Best list. Even more impressive is the fact that Accord has made the list for the 22nd consecutive year, more than any other vehicle.
Honda of America also announced the 2020 Accord earns 2020 Edmunds top-rated sedan award. It marks the sedan’s second straight year as Edmund's top choice among all sedan competitors.
When sedans sales are dropping as consumers in the U.S. buy record numbers of SUVs and crosser vehicles, the Honda Accord seems to defy the odds. Following the Honda CR-V small SUV and Civic compact sedan and hatchback models, the Accord mid-size sedan is the bran’s third best-selling vehicle in the lineup.
Why is the Honda Accord so popular?
Honda will sell close to 270,000 Accord models in 2019. The Accord is praised for its nimble driving dynamics, a quiet cabin, and the hybrid Accord returns Prius-like fuel economy. The 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid proves you can have a fuel-efficient sedan that’s also a bit edgy in styling and higher on the fun-to-drive meter.
These aren’t the first awards for the new Accord sedan. In the recent Kelly Blue Book annual Best Buy Awards, the 2020 Honda Civic, Accord, CR-V, Odyssey, and Clarity Plug-In Hybrid all receive KBB’s nod as being the best in their segment.
The 2020 Honda Accord defies the odds and continues to sell well in the U.S. market where SUVs account for nearly 50 percent of all car sales. All three Accord awards identify the top vehicles in categories they say resonate with the majority of new car buyers. It’s hard to argue as the Accord is a best-seller in the U.S. and leads the mid-size sedan segment.
