It's hard to believe, but Subaru is discounting new models. The most significant price drop is for the 2024 Subaru Legacy. Here's why the midsize sedan is among the ten most discounted right now.
Are you looking for the best midsize sedan value? A new list of the ten most discounted cars from Consumer Reports (by subscription) now includes the 2024 Subaru Legacy midsize sedan. I will explain why it's the best model for new model shoppers.
Consumer Reports says the models I've listed below sell below their sticker price. It's according to CR's exclusive analysis of car deals. Recent transaction data from TrueCar, a CR partner, allows you to see where people are finding significant savings off the sticker price on 2024 models.
They identified ten models selling for less than their sticker price (manufacturer's suggested retail price, MSRP), each selling for less than $50,000.
The most discounted cars are all 2024 models, and they're listed below in descending order of savings off MSRP by percentage.
- Volvo XC40: 8% Off
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class: 7% Off
- Alfa Romeo Stelvio: 6% Off
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: 6% Off
- Volvo XC60: 6% Off
- Volvo S60: 6% Off
- Buick Enclave: 6% Off
- Alfa Romeo Giulia: 6% Off
- Nissan Altima: 5% Off
- Subaru Legacy: 5% Off
What does CR say about the 2024 Legacy, and how much can you save?
- Price Range: $24,895 - $38,195
- CR MPG: Overall 28 / City 19 / Hwy 39 mpg
- #6 of 12 Midsized cars
2024 Subaru Legacy Sport AWD
- MSRP: $34,495
- Average savings off MSRP: $1,641
- Average transaction price: $32,854
As you can see in the list above, except for the Nissan Altima, the rest of the models are luxury brands that cost significantly more than the 2024 Subaru Legacy
MY TAKE
I think these things are essential for midsize sedan shoppers to know.
1. All Subaru Legacy trim levels come with Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive. The sedan provides excellent all-weather and severe-weather performance.
2. The 2024 Subaru Legacy Sport trim level now comes standard with the Subaru Starlink 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system, which features a Harman Kardon speaker system with a 576-watt equivalent amplifier.
3. The Legacy gets the highest safety scores from the IIHS.
4. What is the MSRP of the 2024 Subaru Legacy?
For the 2024 model year, the Legacy sedan is still available in five trim levels. The base is priced at $25,985, Premium ($28,285), Sport ($35,585), Limited ($33,035), and Touring XT ($39,285). Destination and delivery fees are included in the price above ($1,090).
5. What Legacy trim is the best value?
The 2024 Subaru Legacy Premium and Limited trim levels are where many buyers will land and offer the best value with minor price increases. Unless you need the Sport and Touring XT's 2.4-liter turbocharged engine's extra power, you will pay about $7,000-$11,000 less for a comparably equipped 2.5i trim level.
6. What is the 2023 Subaru Legacy's fuel mileage?
The EPA says the Sport and Touring XT trims return an estimated 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway. The standard naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-4 engine gets an EPA-estimated 27/35 mpg city/highway fuel economy.
The 2024 Subaru Legacy offers exceptional value for midsize sedan shoppers. It should be on your list because you can buy it below MSRP.
