The 2016 Subaru WRX STI crashes at the Rallye Baie-des-Chaleurs but maintains #1 manufacturers status for Subaru.
Antoine L’Estage and co-driver Darren Garrod, driving the 2016 Subaru WRX STI, overcame an early accident to win the last eight stages of the Rallye Baie-des-Chaleurs. Subaru Rally Team Canada (SRTC) maintains first-place manufacturers status for Subaru in the Canadian Rally Championship (CRC).
Subaru Rally Team Canada fought hard at the third event of the Canadian Rally Championship. After an early accident in the second stage, L’Estage wasn’t about to let a setback keep them from competing hard. “Everyone on the team did a great job” said L’Estage of the incident, “but it was really hard to try to make up the time”. They pushed the 2016 Subaru WRX STI hard and won all of the last eight stages.
Subaru finished the CRC rally race with a total of four Subaru vehicles in the top ten. MINI, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen have been major competitors trying to take it away fro Subaru. Andre and Rene Leblanc, another top Subaru team, and brothers from Subaru New Richmond, were the first local team to finish on the podium in quite some time. They finished in second place to the delight of the hometown crowd.
They were followed closely by Maxime Labrie and Anik Barrette, whose third place finish helped to keep them atop the leader board in both the Drivers and Co-Drivers Championships. Subaru Rally Team Canada has lots of time before the next CRC rally race. They will get the 2016 Subaru WRX STI ready for the next event at Rallye Defi, taking place September 9-10 in Montpellier, QC. Stay tuned.
