The 2020 Subaru Forester gets safer for the new model change. See pricing and four new safety tech features coming for customers.
Subaru of America announced pricing and new upgrades to the 2020 Forester. The fifth-generation Forester was introduced last year and the automaker made few changes in the second year of the product cycle because the small SUV is basically still new. For the 2020 model change, Subaru did give Forester new technology to protect kids and pets and improve overall vehicle safety.
All next-generation Foresters came standard with the brand’s EyeSight driver assist technology, and for the 2020 model change, the SUV gets a new Lane Centering function and Lane Departure Prevention. Lane-centering gives the driver a gentle nudge of the steering wheel, and it’s designed to keep the Forester centered in the lane.
Lane Departure Prevention is an advanced safety technology that alerts the driver when you unintentionally drift out of the lanes without a using the turn signal. It's important to note that LDW systems do not take full control of the vehicle or keep the driver from operating it.
Also new for 2020, all Foresters include a new Rear Seat Reminder. Designed to help prevent child and/or pet entrapment, the system will alert the driver to check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle. The reminder will not be able to physically sense the presence of children or pets in the rear seat area, but it will turn on if one of the following conditions is met:
The vehicle is started within 30 minutes after a rear side door is opened and closed; a rear side door is opened and closed when the vehicle is running and stationary; the vehicle is turned off and back on again within 30 minutes, and the rear side doors remained closed.
Also new for 2020, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on the Forester has been upgraded with automatic individual wheel I.D. registration. This safety system warns you with a yellow symbol on the instrument panel that at least one or more tires are significantly under-inflated, possibly creating unsafe driving conditions. Individual wheel I.D. registration uses pressure monitoring sensors within each tire that monitor specific pressure levels, not just wheel revolution data from the anti-lock brake system.
The 2020 Subaru Forester will be offered in five trim levels when it arrives at retailers this fall: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited and Touring. Pricing on the Forester begins at $24,495 (+$200). The top-selling Premium trim jumps the most and is priced from $27,395 (+$700).
The Sport trim adds unique appearance elements and enhanced standard equipment and is priced at $28,995 (+$200). The 2020 Forester Limited models begin at $31,095 (+$300). 2020 Touring is priced from $34,595 (+$300). Destination and delivery add $1,010. 2020 Subaru Forester models will begin arriving at showrooms this fall.

It's hard to believe we need
It's hard to believe we need a reminder not to leave a child or pet locked in a car. Are people just too busy?
Too much of an increase,
Too much of an increase, without the value. It is ok to have the child safety in the back seat as an option, but we should not all have to pay for it.
