The new Genesis GV70 SUV just got released, and this could be the vehicle to bring Genesis to the mainstream. I also think this is the perfect vehicle for Genesis to turn into an EV.
Genesis is on a roll and not stopping for anyone. The luxury Korean automaker recently unveiled the new G80 and GV80 mid-size luxury sedan and SUV. The G70 got a refreshed look to match the rest of the lineup, and now we have the GV70.
Genesis GV70
The Genesis GV70 did not get a full unveiling; we don’t have any information on it. Specs didn’t get released, and we don’t know what the GV70 looks like because it is under camo. Genesis did have some fun with the camo by incorporating a QR scan code on the GV70. Genesis will be testing the SUV on public roads. The QR code is meant to be scanned by those who spot the GV70 on the road. These people will get information on the “G-Matrix” camouflage pattern the GV70 is cloaked in.
We don’t have much to go by, but we can assume what the powertrains will be because the G80 and GV80 utilize new motors. The G70 sedan and GV70 are in the same sort of realm just from the nomenclature. The G70 will be getting the newly updated powertrains from the G80/GV80, the 2.5 turbo four-cylinder making 300 HP and 311 LB. FT. of torque and 3.5 twin-turbo V6 producing 375 HP and 391 LB. FT. of torque. It can be assumed the GV70 will also get these powertrains.
I am a petrol-powered enthusiast; however, I must admit the GV70 will be the perfect vehicle in the Genesis lineup to get the electric treatment. People are crazy about SUVs and are on the hunt for any new electric car to buy into. Hyundai-Kia has done great with vehicles like the Kona EV, Kia Soul EV, and many hybrids. The GV70 will be the perfect vehicle to showcase the Korean car manufacturer’s latest developments in range, power, etc.
But what do you think about the new Genesis GV70? In the comment section below, let me know if the GV70 is something you are waiting to buy because Genesis is truly stirring up the competition with these RWD-based high power vehicles at a competitive price.
