A lot has been said about the Cybertruck’s durability and bulletproof characteristics; however, how does the all-electric truck compare to a purpose-built armored vehicle? We compare the Tesla Cybertruck with the Rezvani Vengeance.
The Cybertruck is by far the most durable mass-market vehicle in the world. Straight from the factory, the Cybertruck comes standard with an ultra-hard 30X cold rolled stainless steel exoskeleton.
The Cybertruck’s exterior is so durable that it’s bulletproof to a 9mm handgun and is impenetrable to a hunting bow and arrow shot from a close range.
In addition, the Cybertruck is fitted with shatter-resistant glass that can withstand a class 4 hail and a baseball thrown at 70 miles per hour.
As if these weren’t enough, the Cybertruck is also a capable off-road vehicle with 17.4 inches of ground clearance and 12 inches of suspension travel.
In the water, the Cybertruck is fitted with a special “Wade Mode,” which presses the battery pack using air from the suspension. This feature allows the Cybertruck to serve as a boat briefly.
All these features make the Cybertruck the best vehicle to handle any environment. Elon Musk has even dubbed the Tesla truck the best vehicle to drive if you happen to be in a zombie apocalypse.
This is well and good; however, what if you are the type of important individual who genuinely needs extra protection when out in public?
Given the Cybertruck’s bulletproof exterior and off-roading bonafide, you might be tempted to consider the all-electric truck; however, you can also shop around for purpose-built armored vehicles for your unique needs.
Today, thanks to the AutoTrader YouTube channel, we have an exciting comparison between the Cybertruck and one of the most famous armored vehicles civilians can access.
The armored vehicle in question is the Rezvani Vengeance. If you are unfamiliar with Rezvani, it is a Los Angeles-based company that modifies vehicles to create the ultimate experience.
The Rezvani Vengeance starts life as a Cadillac Escalade; however, after getting extensively overhauled, it is no longer mistaken for any other vehicle.
Let’s compare the vehicle now based on…
- Design
- Special armored vehicle features
- Specs & Driving
- Price
- Overall Verdict
Design
With its stainless steel unpainted exterior and triangular silhouette, there is no mistaking the Cybertruck for anything else.
The Cybertruck’s design is as eye-catching as it is functional. The Cybertruck has a triangular silhouette since the triangle is the most robust shape, and the unpainted stainless steel surface allows the Cybertruck to put the truck's toughest material on the outside.
This makes the Cybertruck’s design iconic. However, if you are talking about designs that turn people’s heads, the Rezvani Vengeance gives the Cybertruck a run for its money.
The Rezvani Vengeance came into existence from the mind of a literal game designer. Looking at this armored vehicle, you get the sense that you are looking at something in a video game rather than real life.
When you get to vehicles as unique as the Cybertruck and the Rezvani Vengeance, comparing their looks becomes a uniquely personal choice. However, for the sake of this comparison, let’s say the design category is a draw between the two vehicles.
Special armored vehicle features
As mentioned, the Rezvani Vengeance is a purpose-built armored vehicle, whereas the Cybertruck is a mass-market, extra-durable product.
So, how does the Tesla Cybertruck stack up against this specialized vehicle? Let’s start with bulletproof capabilities.
Similar to the Cybertruck, the Rezvani features bulletproof armoring all around the vehicle. However, not all bullets are created equal, and the Rezvani is designed to stop much bigger rounds that will easily penetrate the Cybertruck’s stainless steel exterior.
As if this weren’t enough, the Rezvani Vengeance also features proper bulletproof glass. The glass is thick and can stop multiple bullet types, whereas the Cybertruck features “shatter-resistant” glass designed to better protect against rock chips and hail.
In addition to the bulletproof exterior, the Rezvani also features some quirky deterrent mechanisms, including a 110-volt electric door handle, a mechanism to dispense a paper spray to the eyes of your attackers, a smoke machine to clock your vehicle, and steel-insulated front and rear bumpers.
The bottom part of the Rezvani also features additional steel plating that can withstand a proper explosion.
In this category, although the Cybertruck is very durable compared to any mass-market car, the all-electric truck still has a lot of missing features when compared to specialized armored vehicles.
For the specialized armored vehicle category, we must give the Rezvani Vengeance the win over the Tesla Cybertruck.
Specs & Driving
The Rezvani has many features that make it ideal as a specialized armored vehicle; however, all that added steel plating over the already chunky Cadillac Escalade means the Vengeance is not the ideal driving machine.
Carrying all that weight, the Rezvani Vengeance is relatively slow and unresponsive. The Cybertruck, especially when specced with the tri-motor Cyberbeast variant, can do 0 to 60 miles per hour in as little as 2.6 seconds.
This is a supercar performance in a full-sized truck. In addition, since the Cybertruck is designed from the ground up to take its final form, the truck has better integration of features and driving dynamics than the Rezvani Vengeance.
In addition, the Cybertruck is a Tesla, whereas the Vengeance is built on top of a Cadillac Escalade, which means the Tesla wins in software and other screen-based tasks.
Here, we have to give the Cybertruck the win. The Rezvani is undoubtedly an excellent car to drive; however, the difference between it and a Cybertruck is night and day in this category.
Price
Tesla currently only sells special “Foundation Series” Cybertrucks. The dual-motor Cybertruck AWD starts at $100,000, whereas the tri-motor Cybertruck Cyberbeast costs $120,000.
However, if you think these prices are high, wait to hear how much a purpose-built armored vehicle such as the Revzani Vengeance costs.
In its most basic form, the Rezvani Vengeance starts at a whopping $285,000; however, if you want better performance and armoring, the price quickly shoots up and can get as high as $780,000.
Price tags like that are why the Cybertruck will be relatively ubiquitous, whereas the Rezvani Vengeance will remain a niche vehicle.
Overall Verdict
As mentioned above, if you are a high-value target genuinely needing extra security, the Rezvani Vengeance is undoubtedly a better vehicle than the Cybertruck.
However, to get the extra protection, you must pay as much as it costs to purchase seven or eight Cybertrucks. You must also sacrifice performance, driving dynamics, and other tech features for the extra protection.
Ultimately, this exercise tells us that although the Cybertruck is durable, it lacks many features compared to specially-built armored vehicles.
Having said that, as the Cybertruck becomes more available, other third-party shops will undoubtedly modify the Cybertruck to become a genuinely armored vehicle.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted as the modified Cybertrucks hit the streets. Until then, visit our site, torquenews.com/Tesla, regularly for the latest updates.
