Are you sold on the arguing point that buying an EV means you are “Going Green”? Here’s an interesting new Cybertruck-esque EV that environmentally conscious car shoppers will find themselves hating to love. Plus, why these types of vehicles could be a portent of future EV’s that will not be so green after all.
Not THE Cybertruck
While much has been said about Tesla and its Cybertruck regarding when---if ever---the Cybertruck will become available to all if its Tesla fans that have been waiting (years now), it looks like GMC has available this year an EV Hummer that automatically brings to mind Tesla and their not-here-yet Cybertruck model.

Referring to the GMC EV Hummer as a “cybertruck” is a fair application. In fact, Tesla Cybertruck has reputedly borrowed at least one feature inherent in Hummer such as a crab walk mode where the rear wheels can turn approximately ten degrees either opposite or parallel to its front wheels. The EV Hummer likewise shows some Tesla-esque properties.
In addition, both vehicles share claims that they are “environmentally Green.” But is this true? Or are both vehicle makers simply greenwashing their brands as a marketing ploy?

Recent Review of the EV Hummer by an Engineer
While the Tesla Cybertruck is not available for an adequate review yet that could challenge its actual greenness, a recent review of GMC’s EV Hummer posted on the Engineering Explained YouTube channel discusses the EV Hummer and makes some green comparisons to other vehicles available today.
What was immediately jarring in the review is a comment referring to the news that General Motors was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential Companies for "engineering a greener future" with its electric vehicle plans. And yet, here we are looking at a 9,000 pound-plus GMC behemoth that is hard to believe it has anything to do with a green future. It’s like giving someone a roofie and calling it romance.
Here's the video that is both informative and admittedly emotionally and morally conflicting for car shoppers who are being introduced to a vehicle so bad...that it's good.
I Hate That I Love the Hummer EV
A Green Take on the Video
There’s no denying that the video shown was cool and doubtless would make the most ardent ICE owner want one of these “Green” vehicles. And maybe it is partially because it is a green vehicle…only in name.
The point here is the question of whether the EV Hummer is a portent of a non-green vehicle future? In other words, manufacturers will only make what will sell. The host mentions that the EV Hummer is more of a testbed for their wade into EV technology as GM figures out what their future EVs will look like. If the EV Hummer proves to become just as wildly popular as the Tesla Cybertruck---which has not arrived yet (did I mention that earlier?)---how will this motivate the public into wanting what is truly green?! I mean, marketing knows what’s best…right?
And finally…
