Are you replacing your spark plugs the correct way on the later model Ford F-150 trucks? If you are used to “feeling” your torque, you might want to update your spark plug skills with this spark plug replacement demo.
Spark Plug Maintenance and Replacement
At least one time or another we have all been guilty of trusting our hands-on “feel” for bringing spark plugs to a “close enough for Government work” torque. However, this can be a costly mistake when that torque is under---and worst of all---over torqued, leading to much more trouble than checking a manual for the proper torque values in the first place before beginning.
However, as it turns out, there’s more to it than that according to a recent Ford Tech Makuloco YouTube channel video where the host explains that the 2022 models of the Ford F-150 EcoBoost engine have changed their spark plug type used. Not only do you have to be sure to not use those extra stored plugs from an earlier model F-150, but you also need to pay attention to their new torque values.
That said, here is a very thorough step-by-step demo video that is a nice refresher course on proper spark plug replacement to make sure your DIY automotive skills are up to date and ensuring your F-150 remains running like the great truck it is.
