Here’s the latest from a car consultant who warns car, SUV, and truck shoppers the vehicles that he has tested that are the worst you can buy in 2023. Spoiler alert---the Ford F-150 Lightning is one of them!
The Car Help Corner
According to a popular car consultant from The Car Help Corner YouTube channel, “These were the most disappointing cars, trucks, and SUVs that I tested and reviewed in 2022 that you should avoid buying…if you are thinking of buying a new car in 2023, make sure to watch this video,” as he shares his advice on what vehicles shoppers should really avoid in 2023.
While it is recommended to watch the 12-minute video in its entirety for all of the details, here is a summary of those models that were found lacking in performance, quality, and value for the money spent on buying one.
• Mazda MX-30: This model is rated as the worst new EV on the market today due to that it provides only approximately 100 miles on a full charge. Too small a battery and too small of a motor makes this EV “pathetic” according to the host.
• Ford F-150 Lightning: Actual real world driving range is sub-par despite the promises provided by Ford----even without towing! Poor performance in cold weather also made this model one recommended to avoid, along with its long charging time and more importantly---it’s excessive price that makes it a poor value for shoppers.
• Land Rover Range Rover Velar: This one is a huge disappointment with quality and reliability problems including, but not limited to freezing screens, back-up camera failure, and body parts falling off. “This is basically a vehicle you buy only for status and image” says the host pointing out that there is no sensible or rational reason for buying one.
• Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE: This plug-in Hybrid version of the Grand Cherokee “…turned out to be a total dud,” says the host listing problems that include poor performance for an expensive vehicle possessing a noisy engine, poor fuel economy and short driving range for a Hybrid vehicle---only 20 miles distance on electric followed by a meager 20 miles per gallon on fuel---all from a vehicle that costs approximately $80,000!
• Genesis GV60: A nice vehicle overall, but…it has mechanically identical cousins in Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 that should make shoppers question the wisdom of spending $15,000 to $20,000 more for essentially the same car.
• Ford Explorer: Too high of a price tag “for a regular 3-row SUV” makes this one a poor choice where there are better SUVs out there such as the Toyota Highlander. In other words, with its reliability problems, poor interior and poor performance, the host states that it really is not competitive with other SUV makes and models available today.
