There is word that Tesla is going to do a test drive in China with something not yet disclosed. Everything points to it being FSD.
FSD Coming To China
It seems likely that FSD is coming to China with Elon Musk's recent visit there and now, word coming that Tesla's sales team wants to schedule people for a test drive of something new.
The details of this message, which has just come from Tesla's sales team in China, is reported to say that Tesla is wanting everyone to schedule 30 or 40 people to come to the Tesla store for a test drive of something new.
Clearly this is FSD because I am aware of no new vehicles or software that Tesla cars are getting in China. This is actually massive news for several reasons.
This is big news because China is a much larger car market than the U.S., and the regulatory environment in China may be more favorable to a product like FSD getting widespread adoption and being cleared for robotaxis.
It's quite possible that China may become autonomous before the U.S.
After all, EV adoption is higher in China. Last year, in 2023, 24% of vehicles sold were pure EVs. Another 12% were hybrid vehicles. EVs are a prime candidate for autonomous driving, due to being electric only and having less wear and tear on the car. This is more cost-effective and friendlier for the environment.

China Compared To The U.S.
China is a much bigger market and will have less regulatory hurdles to overcome than the U.S. will. It's clear this is excellent news for Tesla.
Elon Musk doing the robotaxi reveal event on 8/8 is no coincidence. In China, this is known as the year of the dragon. In another 3D chess move, Elon Musk may be revealing that robotaxis will happen in China before they happen in the U.S.
All of Tesla's vehicles are also cheaper in China, so it's quite possible that FSD will be sold for $59 to $79 per month in China. I expect the adoption rate to be huge and it will be interesting to see what happens if Tesla is indeed getting ready for a massive release of FSD in China.
I don't see how this is not FSD. With Elon's visit and the 8/8 robotaxi reveal event. Tesla is gearing up for a wide release of FSD in China. That's my bet on what this is.
The interesting thing about this is that there are a wide range of predictions for when vehicles will become autonomous. Some think it will happen this year or next, while others think it is a decade or two away.
I think if you understand exponential curves and technology, you'll see that FSD getting to better - much better than a human driver is probably going to happen much sooner than you think.
Let's keep a pulse on this and see what happens tomorrow. If it's FSD, we'll be sure to update you on everything that happens with it, so stay tuned for further updates!
Tesla is also reported to be doing the following:
Tesla is set to clear a key hurdle to introduce its advanced assisted driving features in China by partnering with Baidu in mapping and navigation functions - Bloomberg
Tesla will then be able to deploy its autonomous driving services on the basis of lane-level navigation and mapping.
Tesla has also cleared a key data security and privacy requirement in China, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, which would help ease some of the concerns over Tesla's data security issues.
