Lucid's flagship sedan has received nods in three separate categories for prestigious World Car Finals awards.

The Lucid Air has received three different nominations in the World Car Finals, a yearly awards ceremony with voting by 100 automotive journalists from 32 different countries.

The categories Lucid is vying for include World Electric Vehicle, World Luxury Car and World Car Design. The Lucid Air is up against the BMW i7 and Hyundai Ioniq 6 for World EV, the 7 Series/i7 and Genesis G90 for World Luxury Car and the Ioniq 6 and Land Rover Range Rover for World Car Design.

The finalists, dubbed "Top Three in the World" are voted on by 100 journalists in a secret ballot "based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their on-going professional work." Voting results are tabulated by KPMG.

The Big Six
Each candidate for the awards is reviewed by a panel of six auto industry experts who then put together a list of recommendations for the other judges to consider. The panel is made up of:

  • Ian Callum - Aston Martin DB7, DB9, Jaguar C-X75 concept, XK, XF, XJ, F-TYPE and XE
  • Gert Hildebrand - Opel, Volkswagen, Seat, Mitsubishi, Mini, 1994 Le Mans winning Porsche 962

  • Victor Nacif - Ford, Peugeot-Citroën, Nissan
  • Shiro Nakamura - GM, Isuzu, Nissan 350Z, Cube, GT-R, Murano, Juke and Infiniti FX

3D-Printed Trophies
Winners will be presented with trophies designed by Callum's design and engineering firm. The trophies are 3D-printed by German firm Replique, which provides encrypted additive manufacturing services to car companies allowing them to prototype and produce small volume proprietary parts.

“The World Car Awards are held in the highest regard by the industry and as a recipient, I appreciate how much it means to a design team to have it proudly on display in the studio. Reimagining both the design and manufacture is a huge privilege and just the opportunity the team at CALLUM relish.” - Ian Callum

Other categories at the awards include World Car of the Year (BMW X1/iX1, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Kia Niro), World Performance Car (Kia EV6 GT, Nissan Z, Toyota GR Corolla) and World Urban Car (Citroen C3, ORA Funky Cat, Volkswagen Taigo).

Winners of the 2023 World Car Finals will be announced at an awards ceremony on April 5th as part of the New York Auto Show.
