Global data gathering and analysis firm Dewesoft ranked 150 electric vehicles from around the world, and different versions of the Lucid Air took the top six spots. Find out where rivals from Tesla, Mercedes, and Porsche ranked here.
Dewesoft is all about testing, data, and analysis. On top of manufacturing measurement equipment with a range of global partners, the company's website can easily swallow half your afternoon with articles like "Every Satellite Orbiting Earth And Who Owns Them."
Published on March 9th, this list ranks 150 electric cars from markets around the world by their ranges, and shows just how far ahead of everybody else Lucid Motors currently is. Lucid vehicles occupy the top six spots of the 150-car list with a couple of entries further down for certain versions of the Lucid Air Pure and Touring.
For the purposes of the list identical cars with different-sized wheels are counted as separate vehicles. The Lucid Air Dream Edition Range with 19-inch wheels tops the list, while the same car equipped with 21s sits in third, showing how much of a difference in range is afforded by smaller wheels with less inertial and rolling resistance.
The first thing to note is just how many Chinese-market EVs find a place on the list, eclipsing the number of vehicles available in Europe and North America. A quick bit of research reveals that plug-in vehicles hold a 19% market share in the Chinese car market, with pure battery-electric vehicles making up around 11% of that number.
The first Tesla appears on the list in 11th position, while the Mercedes EQS lands at number fourteen. BMW makes its debut in 24th, then it's back to Lucid in terms of vehicles available here in the USA. The Lucid Air Pure ranks 42nd, while the Air Touring sits in 50th.
The highest entries from other well-known brands are as follows:
- Rivian R1S - 59th
- Kia EV6 RWD Long Range - 74th
- Ford Mustang Mach-E - 79th
- Porsche Taycan GTS - 97th
- Polestar 2 (single motor) - 110th
- Audi e-tron GT Quattro - 123rd
- Volkswagen ID.4 Pro - 129th
The entire list can be seen here, and then you can spend the other half of your afternoon Googling China-only EVs. I know I will be.
