A poll suggested that 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid owners would not trade in their car for something else…even for offers above what they paid for.
We have covered the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, and it speaks for itself. People love the car. It’s reliable, stylish, has phenomenal gas mileage, and it seats your family of 4 comfortably. What more could you want right? Well, it turns out that with the weird market we have today, these everyday family sedans are the getting the supercar treatment, and instead of resale value going down like it always has, it is going up with a fully loaded XSE Hybrid selling for over $50,000. Almost $11,000 more than MSRP.
Granted, these things are hard to get MSRP. You really have to dig around different dealers to see if they would even sell it for MSRP. If they do, you can resale it for way more than what you paid for. I know when the time is right, I would definitely jump at the deal and get myself something better. If you are one of the lucky few who have a 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid that you bought for MSRP now is the chance. Speculators don’t really know what the forthcoming future is going to look like in terms of the car market but right now it is hot.
I posted a poll on Facebook Toyota RAV4 Hybrid group and asked if owners would trade in their RAV4 Hybrid if they were presented with an offer of more than what they paid for. The two answer choices were either yes or no and someone added “depends on what I am trading in for.” To keep this as objective as possible, I will exclude the results of the third option and just focus on yes or no.
So out of 60 voters (at the time of this article being written), 44 said they would keep their car and not take it in, and 16 said they would trade it in if the offer was more than MSRP. Now, these numbers do not represent the entire Toyota RAV4 Hybrid community, but these small numbers actually speak for themselves. Here’s what a few of the owners who voted had to say.
Gina Young said, “I already did. Traded my 2019 XLE in. Got more than I paid for it brand new with 30,000 miles on it, needing new brakes and tires. Traded it in for a 2021 fully loaded Blizzard Pearl XSE.” Even with the maintenance that needed to be done, the dealer still gave her more than what she paid for. This is really interesting because it just shows how high the market for these things is right now.
It’s following the c8 corvette story. Remember when it first came out how everyone was like, “such an affordable sports car…only 60k?” Then a year later you couldn’t find one under 100k.
Trevor Hamilton said, “Made almost 10k on mine and got a cash Honda Pilot. I'll buy another rav4 when prices go down.” It just goes to show how valuable these cars are right now. Unfortunately, the used Prius market is still pretty low so I will have to wait until the next gas crisis to make a profit off mine but people should take advantage of this phenomenon right now. The next time something like this happens we might be cyborgs or radioactive ash. The fact that you can trade in a cheap family SUV for almost 25% more than what you paid for never happens.
