Delivery times after the build date for 2023 Toyota Tundra seem to be pretty short compared to last year. Has Toyota learned their lesson?
Last year, Toyota had a pretty big problem with getting already made 2022 Toyota Tundras to their owners. Now usually the longest part of the entire wait time from deposit to delivery is the time between putting the order in and getting it built. Sometimes you’ll have to wait months for a build date.
After your Toyota Tundra is built, you’ll typically wait a pretty short time before your Tundra is delivered to the dealership for you to pick up. Now it really doesn’t matter where you live in relation to the factory since all new 2023 Toyota Tundras need to go to the port for inspections before they are shipped off by truck or train. Granted if you live all the way in Berlin, it’ll take a pretty longer time to get your car than say someone in South Carolina due to the inoculant matter of having to cross the ocean.
However on a recent Facebook Toyota Tundra group post, owners started to share their post build wait times from different locations and it surprised me how much quicker it had gotten as a whole. A few outliers in Northern Canada still waiting a few more days or weeks than usual but other than that most of these owners seem to be getting them on a cordial schedule.
About 90% of people say it took on average 2 weeks to get their 2023 Toyota Tundra delivered to them from the dealership after it was built. Again, these are only the delivery times after the building date and not the allocation times. A lot of other owners also gave similar wait time with deviations of anywhere from 2-5 days. Of course, things like bad weather, snowstorms, failed inspections, and other unforeseeable delays can cause your waiting time to be longer.
A lot of things can happen but when the sun is shining everything goes to plan. The only time things got really out of hand was during the wastegate issues for the 2022 model year. After Toyota fixed that for the 2023 Tundra, delivery times started to get better and people got their Tundras faster.
What do you think? How bad is your waiting time? Let us know in the comments below.

Toyota doesn’t build to spec.
Toyota doesn’t build to spec. Dealers get whatever Toyota decides to send them. I’ve been waiting for a highlander hybrid platinum in cypress green with caramel interior and not one on the planet. Placed order in July 22
I put an order in Jan 5 2023
I put an order in Jan 5 2023 for a black 4x4 limited tundra 6.5 bed with dash cam tail gate step sliver running board at the time of my order I was told 45 to 60 days and now the dealer tells me they don't know when it is going to be built. I received an email from Toyota and they said they are going to build 40,000 to 50,000 less vehicles in January and they said something about supply chain issues. I thought all of that was over.
I ordered my tundra in
I ordered my tundra in December 2021, they told me six months. It’s now January 2023, all they told me was that it was supposed to be built in November. Granted I live in Hawaii, I guess I’ll get my truck sometime in the spring hopefully.
I placed a deposit on a 1794
I placed a deposit on a 1794 Tundra in June 22. I still have no idea when my dealer in CT will get an allocation and they have no idea if I will be able to get the color I want.
I ordered a double cab 8' box
I ordered a double cab 8' box in January of 2022. They told me 3 to 6 months then, now I have been told I should be getting it in March 2023. Here's hopping it's true, Belleville Ontario
I placed an order for a 2023
I placed an order for a 2023 TRDPRO in Solar Orange back in October 2022 and they told me then that it might take up to a year before they receive it. Fingers crossed that I receive it before that! I'm definite it'll be worth the wait!!!
I ordered a 22 tundra May
I ordered a 22 tundra May 2022. Still no word. Dealer changed the order to a 23 in October. Still nothing. Down in the USA there are tundras on the lots. There is a reason that Canada is not getting tundras and they don’t want to tell us. Toyota Canada has really let their loyal base down by being completely silent and offering no info. The problem is there is no indication that we will ever see a tundra to fill you order. The competition should be really pleased as there are lots of trucks on their lots in Canada. I so wanted to stay a loyal Toyota customer but alas they care very little for the Canadian market. It would be some work but very valuable for Toyota Canada to create a data base of new orders with regular follow ups and push the Texas plant a bit to produce. But it’s clear Toyota Canada is simply a meaningless marketing office and they have no clout or interest in maintaining their market share with regards to trucks
Sad
Toyota Canada has dropped the
Toyota Canada has dropped the ball and will lose customer base. There is no indication of better deliveries. I think there is a hidden reason that no tundras are coming to Canada. I ordered May 6 2022 and it’s been radio silence ever since. Not even a word from dealership u less I check in. It’s as if no one cares about the Toyota brand in Canada. There are lots of trucks on competitors lots so I guess that’s what we have to do. It would be so prudent for Toyota Canada to maintain a data base of orders and send updates and contact to customers. I mean a long wait because of parts shortage is one thing but at least try to keep your customers.
When I ordered I was told 6-8 months. If they told me today I’d see my truck in 3 or4 months For sure I’d be happy but absolutely no info. Yet in the USA there are tundras sitting on the lots
I don’t know what you’re
I don’t know what you’re talking about with the quick Tundra deliveries. On April 4Th it will be four months since I ordered my Tundra and there’s no word whatsoever on when it will be delivered. I wanted the crew cab and 6 1/2 foot bed and I was told, “They don’t make a lot like that.” I said well that’s why I ordered it. But apparently if you order something that’s not that common the wait time is much longer.
I put in an order for a
I put in an order for a crewmax limited with a 6 1/2 ft bed with the max motor. It’s been 10 months. Was told today, as far as they know could be another year. They dealship said they’ve never seen one. Had to double check the website to see if they even still offer this configuration. Never owned anything but a Toyota. Totally bummed, might be forced to move on to another auto maker.
I ordered the exact same…
I ordered the exact same configuration: Crewmax Limited with a 6.5’ bed and the I-Max hybrid in February 2023. Way over a year later and haven’t heard a thing about it being built yet.
Not sure about the validity
Not sure about the validity of this article. I placed my order for a 2022 TRD Pro in April 2022....Here I am waiting for the Dealer to receive the allocation by roll of the dice a year later. Toyota and the Dealers are seriously behind the times.
We live in Kentucky and
We live in Kentucky and ordered a trd off road Tundra im December 2022 and still nothing. The dealer does not keep in contact with us unless they have found a Tundra we do not want and did not order but want us to buy that instead. We cannot get answers from anyone about when when may get what we ordered.
Placed a deposit on a 2022
Placed a deposit on a 2022 Tundra Platinum 6.5' bed in ice cap. That deposit was placed in September of 2021. Still waiting.
I’m in Ontario Canada, and
I’m in Ontario Canada, and order a Tundra limited crew cab in April 2022. Original delivery estimate was 6 months. We are now into May 2023 one year later and no one can give me a delivery date.
This article is incorrect. We
We put a deposit on a Tundra in January 20,2022. It is now May 2023. STILL WAITING. White SR5 Crewmax 6.5' box TRD. Brutal. Come on Toyota Canada....do better.
Lots of frustration out there
Lots of frustration out there, myself included. I ordered my 2022 Tundra Limited crew max with the iforce max back in October 2021. It’s now May 2023 and still no news or updates. I googled looking for an update and landed here - I felt it’s important to add my post and frustration. Toyota is a good company but this is getting ridiculous especially when the dealerships and dealer groups cannot get or give an answer. Time to fix things here and get on this Toyota Canada….clearly your customer base is upset and disappointed. I’m very close to changing my mind on this purchase.

Ordered a limited iforce max
Ordered a limited iforce max last august. Was told 12 - 18 months at that time. No updates yet.
hummm wow! I was hoping that
hummm wow! I was hoping that my Feb 2023 order for the SR5 TRD Sport would take less than the 1 to 2 yrs I was told, but after reading the comments above, I will consider other options. I am not waiting another 1 or 1.5 yrs. I had 2 F150 in the past and I wanted to try a Tundra for better reliability. BUT having no truck is worst than having a truck with average reliability. I am giving them 1-2 months and then I will move on to maybe a GMC... yoo bad.
UPDATE: This week, I was…
UPDATE: This week, I was offered a 2023 Crewmax limited with TRD Off-road package instead and I took it instead of waiting indefinitely for my TRD Sport. More expensive, but better equipped. I think that someone had ordered it and I was on the waiting list. I had expended my choice for any available Tundra up to Limited and I guess I was lucky.
UPDATE: dealer called me in…
UPDATE: dealer called me in mid July 2023 to offer me a Tundra Crewmax Limited TRD-off road in Lunar Rock color and I took it. I am glad I did. the truck is very nice to drive, but is thirsty so far. The truck had been ordered 1.5 yrs ago (Jan 2022) by someone else who chose not to buy it. Hope this info helps
I just called a dealership…
I just called a dealership last week and to get a red Platinum version with a towing package is 10-14 months I was told. The times do not seem to be going down much, if any.
