Owners of 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid have experienced losing audio when connecting their android phone via Bluetooth and not receiving audio from the Waze navigation app.
With the updated infotainment system installed on the 2023 model of the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, users now feel like they are no longer stuck in the mid 2010’s with that very analog feeling infotainment system. Some users even said that they felt that infotainment systems of older Toyota’s were better than the one in the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. I can attest to these opinions as when we test drove the RAV4 of a previous year, we saw a significant difficulty trying to find things in the infotainment system.
However with the new infotainment system update on the 2023 model year, an owner found a little problem when connecting his android phone to his car. In short he shared on a Facebook group saying that he is using his USB port for music, doesn’t want to use Android Auto, and connected his phone via Bluetooth for phone calls. However, he says that his problem comes when he uses Waze for navigation. He says that the car does not play any audio sent from the Waze app.
Now even though Toyota updated their infotainment system on the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid with the latest system they have, there are still a little blemishes that come with it. For instance, if you already have a USB device manually plugged into the USB port for music or whatever, your phone will not play audio from navigation through the speakers. You must only be connected via a wire or via Android Auto.
I don’t know if this is the case with Apple iPhones but if you do have an Android, you may have experienced this. This shouldn’t be a problem if you have GPS already installed on your 2023 RAV4, however, in any case, be sure to not have too many things connected at the same time. I remember one of my IT professors in college saying that it’s almost common for any sort of device, radio, TV, stereo, speakers, computer, etc. to start to act up when too many external devices are plugged in.
It seems to me that it would be better for you the user to just use Android Auto for all applications. It makes it more streamlined and won’t act weird due to too many plug-ins. I drive a 2012 Toyota Prius and I never had this problem as I would have my music playing, but when I used my navigation I wouldn’t have any sort of audio not playing or refusal to play.
