The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) held in Detroit, MI each year is a great venue to unveil the new Jaguar XF. Will the press and media get surprised with an all-new Jaguar?
Jaguar is rumored to unveil the all-new XF sedan at the New York Auto Show in April of 2015, but could we get a special treat and see something new at the NAIAS in January of 2015? The annual show held in Detroit each year is always the first big auto show of the year and is a great place to surprise the press and media on hand.
I remember attending the 2006 Detroit Auto Show as it is sometimes called with my son and we were excited to see the 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustang that was to be unveiled at this show. After we gawked at it for more than 30 minutes and took enough photos to cover my bedroom wall, we walked around the corner to be even more amazed. We stood in front of a Chevy display with a shiny new silver 2006 Chevy Camaro that up till then had only been rumored to be released soon. The full blown car was displayed on a rotating round table for all to see. I even had a buddy who worked for a local Chevy dealership who had told me prior to going to the show, it was not ready yet and would not be shown until the 2006 New York Auto Show.
The point I’m trying to drive home is automakers sometimes enjoy the element of surprise and will pull the covers off of a new model that the public is not expecting just to stir up media excitement. So it would not be that far stretched to possibly see Jaguar unload a new car on us. If they do, could it be the highly anticipated 2nd generation XF Sedan that we already know they are currently working to finish. It’s even been spotted testing at the famous Nurburgring track in Germany. Reports are saying that the car will be ready for sale by the fall of 2015 in Europe, however the US release may be pushed out to early 2016.

In case you have not been following the news releases, the all-new second generation XF will be built on the new advanced aluminum platform that is reported to be a weight savings of more than 200 lbs. Also the stretched XF is said to have more leg room and trunk space which will be a welcomed addition to consumers. They may also choose to equip the car with Jaguar’s new Ingenium Diesel 4 cylinder engine or the turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder, but you can be sure that it will be packed with plenty of power and torque. And speaking of power Jaguar may even pull the trigger on an SVR version of this sedan that would add the supercharged V8 beast under the hood.
If Jaguar decides to pull a rabbit out of the hat surprise the audience at the NAIAS this year in Detroit, don’t forget you heard it here first!
