See How Nissan Leaf, Ford C-Max Energi Compare at Recent Test Drive

So Nissan Leaf owners, and Ford C-Max Energi owners, how do you think your brand of car did at a recent consumer drive event? Do you think the Hybrid did better or the fully electric models?

For a while and a couple of stories I have advocated test drives of EVs in order to interest people in Electric Cars. I used to work for a company that actually made Electric Car Charging Stations and they wouldn’t even install one of their own EVSEs on their buildings for their own employees. Cheap, pathetic firm and I’m glad I left them to pursue other interests.

Well, I want to personally congratulate the PGE company for their recent Electric Vehicle, Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) test drive event that was held in the parking lot of their firm. They managed to have Nissan Leafs, Ford C-Max Energi, Cadillac ELRs, Chevy Volts, E-Golfs, and Fiat 500E cars. It was such a trill to see so many gas car drivers experiencing electric cars for the first time. I’ve been promoting electric cars since 2008 when gas prices hit an all-time high.

As the gas prices slowed, it seemed that big gas guzzler SUVs started to rise in sales as well. So my biggest channel was to actually show people what it was like to drive an EV. One day, while I was at an EV meeting, I was talking to an gentleman and his wife about the Nissan Leaf. Then I finally asked him, you want to take it for a ride? I think I surprised him that day but he took me up on the offer. I gave him the key and said "don’t take it for too long a ride as I need to get back home."

About a ½ hour later the man and his wife returned with full EV grins all around. His last words to me was, I’m going to go get myself one of these cars. Well, that’s how you do it. You put people in the seats, and electric cars will sell. It's that simple.

Back to PGE and the employee test drives. I don’t think one car stood out as the overall winner but this video clearly shows the amazing impact that personally experiencing an EV does to overall perception. It’s that necessary.
